Finance Ministry Issues HRK 1.76 bn in Treasury Bills

ZAGREB, 8 Feb 2022 - The Croatian Ministry of Finance sold HRK 1.76 billion worth of treasury bills at an auction on Tuesday. The bills mature in one year and the interest rate is 0.01 per cent, the same as at the previous auction in January. In advance of the maturity of treasury bills worth HRK 1.86 billion, the Ministry offered HRK 1.6 billion worth of treasury bills for subscription. Financial institutions submitted bids totalling HRK 1.76 billion and the Ministry accepted them all. The low interest rate of 0.01 per cent is the result of a large surplus of liquidity…

SDP Proposes Inflation Bonus for Pensioners

ZAGREB, 8 Feb 2022 - Social Democratic Party leader Peđa Grbin on Tuesday presented a proposal designed to help alleviate the impact of growing inflation on pensioners in the form of a pension allowance bonus for allowances amounting to less than HRK 4,000, proposing also adjustment of pensions to wage and inflation growth. Two Vocational Schools in Varaždin County Granted Erasmus Accreditation

ZAGREB, 8 Feb 2022 - The secondary school of electrical engineering in Varaždin and the secondary school in Maruševec are two schools in Varaždin County, among 12 in Croatia, which have been awarded Erasmus accreditation for vocational education and training by the Agency for Mobility and EU programmes. Miroslav Huđek, the head of the Varaždin County Department for Education, told a press conference on Tuesday that 26 vocational schools from throughout Croatia have applied and 12 have been granted accreditation. Sportening: Luka Modrić Invests in Croatian Sports Social App

February 8, 2022 - Croatia's best football player Luka Modrić has invested in Sportening, a Croatian startup that has attracted a total of 6.4 million EUR investment. With its recently opened office in San Francisco, Sportening wants to position itself alongside the world's leading social networks. Studenac Acquires Pemo, Becoming Largest Croatian Retail Chain

February 8, 2022 – Studenac d.o.o. agreed to buy 100% of Pemo d.o.o., the most respected retail brand in the Dubrovnik region, becoming the largest Croatian retail chain by number of stores and solidifying its position as a leader in the Adriatic region. The acquisition, whose value was not disclosed, will add nearly 40 stores to Studenac’s network, bringing the total to almost 750. IBF Final Eliminator: Zhang Zhilei Accepts Filip Hrgović Fight!

February 8, 2022 - Croatian boxer Filip Hrgović finally has an opponent in the IBF Final Eliminator as Chinese boxer Zhang Zhilei has accepted his offer  Index.hr reports that Zhang Zhilei has accepted to fight Filip Hrgović. Zhilei, the 12th boxer according to the IBF, has agreed to enter the ring with the undefeated Croat. The best 11 fighters according to the IBF rankings refused to fight Hrgović before him.
