Ryanair Domestic Flights in Croatia on the Horizon

July 27, 2021 - After opening its base in Zagreb, Ryanair domestic flights in Croatia are on the horizon.  Ex Yu Aviation reports that Ryanair is looking to launch domestic flights in Croatia after its new Zagreb base officially launched earlier this month. The airline's CEO, Eddie Wilson, noted it could be done without subsidies.  “At the moment, all the domestic routes are subsidised. Seems bizarre that you must pay an airline to fly up and down Croatia when Dubrovnik is such a nice place to go to. We would have no difficulty flying internally with zero subsidies. We have…

Peak Season Hvar Town 2021: a Destination Returning to High Quality

July 26, 2021 - A visit to peak season Hvar Town 2021, a pleasant experience very different to just a few years ago. I met an American friend for a drink in Split the other day. A recent arrival in Croatia, he was just back from his first visit to Hvar Town and was waxing lyrical about the island that had been my home for 13 years. I smiled. Not just as his obvious love and enthusiasm for what really is one of the most beautiful islands in the world, but also that his (correct) perception of elite Hvar Town…

That said, long sandy beaches aren't common along the country's rugged, mountainous coastline, but they do exist. The longest Croatian sandy beach is one which many have hailed to be among the most gorgeous of all. Zagreb Courtyards Opens Again to Visitors!

July 24, 2021 - After a year-long postponement due to the pandemic, Zagreb’s Upper Town once again threw open its doors to visitors of Dvorišta, or Zagreb Courtyards. Zagreb's Upper Town is a metaphorical home to the government institutions, the oldest museums and heritage sites to be found in Zagreb, and it used to be a literal home to some of the most influential figures in Croatian history. Despite its importance to historical records, the only time a resident of the wider Zagreb area might go to Upper Town, as one Croatian journalist joked, is if their relatives from abroad or other…

July the 24th, 2021 - Croatian Health Minister Vili Beros, otherwise a neurosurgeon by profession, has taken to Twitter to praise Croatia for being the safes destination for tourists when compared to the country's typical competition across the Mediterranean. Despite the Delta variant seeing infection rates shoot up once again across Europe, with the United Kingdom being hit particularly hard despite their decision to drop all restrictions and attempt to live with the novel virus as normally as possible, Croatian numbers are still favourable. Britain recently moved Croatia to its much desired green list in its own traffic light system,…
