Živi Zid Holds First Convention, Unveils Party Platform

By 30 April 2018

ZAGREB, April 30, 2018 - The opposition parliamentary party Živi Zid held its first convention in Zagreb on Sunday since the party establishment and unveiled its platform under the motto "Croatia offering equal opportunities for everyone".

The party leader Ivan Vilibor Sinčić said that his party was an important political factor on the Croatian political scene and claimed that it had 17,000 members with the approval ratings of 13.5% which made Živi Zid the third strongest political party in the country. Today's convention is just a beginning, he said, underscoring that the main problem of Croatia is widespread corruption.

Sinčić said that Živi Zid was not a mere association of fighters against foreclosure and evictions but that it was a party offering concrete proposals to people for their problems.

Presenting the platform on judiciary, Dominik Vuletić spoke about Živi Zid's proposal for a new distraint law, like one passed in Slovenia, with limits on costs of the distraint proceedings. The party is also in favour of overhauling the system of the election of judges and prosecutors.

Živi Zid MP Branimir Bunjac spoke about the party's proposal that the whole pension system should be overhauled.

Stjepan Šterc presented the platform on the country's demographic revival.

The party's lawmaker Ivan Pernar commented on the current foreign affairs accusing the Croatian leadership of pursuing "a servile foreign policy" and said that Croatia should leave NATO and the European Union, while advocating making stronger bonds with the BRIC economies: Brazil, Russia, India and China.

Ivan Šimić promised that this party would increase allocations for innovations and new technologies by 30 times, and Jasmina Adžić Sikirić promised free education through the whole schooling system.

During the event that generated an atmosphere of spectacle, members of the press were not given any material and were not provided with the convention's agenda or the platform.
