ZAGREB, May 23, 2018 - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Wednesday introduced to two parliamentary committees Darko Horvat, the candidate for the position of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts Minister, saying that he was confident Horvat would contribute to the government's economic policy, further fiscal consolidation, implementation of structural reforms and to attracting investment.
"I expect support for Horvat and after he is voted in, I expect him to get to work together with other government members," Plenković said at a joint session of the parliamentary committees on economy and on the constitution, standing orders and political system.
Plenković said Horvat was a candidate with great experience in the economic sector, adding that he was enterprise and crafts minister in the Tihomir Orešković government, focusing on SMEs. He added that Horvat gained political experience as an MP and as a Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader in Međimurje County.
Plenković said he expected the new minister to contribute to improving the business climate, provide support to entrepreneurs and help improve the absorption of EU funds. Plenković also expects Horvat to help resolve issues in the economic sector, inherited from the period of the country's economic transition.
Earlier today, Plenković introduced Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolušić, the candidate for the post of Deputy Prime Minister, to the two parliamentary committees, stressing that he believed Tolušić had proven with his work so far as Agriculture Minister that he was entirely prepared to take over his new post and contribute to the important processes on the government's agenda.
