ZAGREB, June 2, 2018 - Croatian police have arrested four Croatian nationals in Vojnić and Ozalj, in Karlovac County, after they tried to smuggle 35 foreign nationals through Croatia and further on to other EU countries, the county police department reported on Friday.

The Croatian nationals, aged 24, 29, 34 and 36, were arrested for two separate cases of people smuggling.

Vojnić is a municipality on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina from where migrants are illegally entering Croatia, while Ozalj is a town on the border with Slovenia, a country signatory to the agreement on the Schengen area of passport-free travel which migrants are trying to reach on their journey to EU countries where they want to settle.
