IDS and SDP in coalition talks.
Željko Jovanović, SDP's member of parliament, said in Pula that he expects IDS to form a coalition with SDP in the eight constituency for the next parliamentary elections. "We believe that in the eight constituency our coalition will be victorious, and that it will provide a better life for all citizens who live in the Istria and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County", said Jovanović at a news conference in Pula. He added that the coalition has to ensure that it stays in power after the next parliamentary elections, reports Novi List on August 8, 2015.
Jovanović expects that IDS and its party bodies will soon make a decision about continuing the coalition. He also said he is not worried about a possibility that IDS could instead enter a coalition with former president Ivo Josipović.
"Their party bodies will decide whether they will enter a coalition with someone else. We have already had several meetings with them and we do not have any contentious issues. The atmosphere during the meetings was great. We asked IDS to send us in writing all the proposals that they consider essential for the continuation of our cooperation. So far, we have not received anything", said Jovanović.
Commenting on the polls which show that the government currently receives the best marks from the public in the last three years, Jovanović said that government popularity was helped by the recent termination of the arbitration agreement with Slovenia, as well as by the military parade which was organized in Zagreb to mark the anniversary of the Operation Storm.
The parade "has united Croatia and sent an image of a strong, free and tolerant Croatia", while celebrations in Knin proved "that HDZ offers a chaotic, nationalist, intolerant Croatia full of threats to citizens who do not agree with Glogoški, Rojs, Brkić or Karamarko", said Jovanović.
Daniel Ferić, acting president of SDP in Istria, said that 950 million kuna was earmarked for various projects in Istria. Especially important are projects in the field of transportation and communications, as well as maritime projects and port construction.
