HDZ President casts doubt on the latest opinion polls.
HDZ President Tomislav Karamarko said on Friday that the latest poll of CRO Demoskop, which showed that SDP is just two percent behind HDZ, is a fraud and that the actual difference is 12 to 14 percent in favor of HDZ. "For the last three years, I have been commenting on these polls pointing out how false they are. I do not know how those people will work in an orderly society when we come to power. The real difference is between 12 to 14 percent", said the HDZ president Karamarko in Drniš. He reiterated that the best polls are those done on election day and that HDZ has been winning elections for the past three and a half years in a row, reports Tportal on September 5, 2015.
Asked to comment on statistics which show that economic growth has returned to Croatia and on the fact that the government claims that it is the result of its work, Karamarko replied: "The economy is growing? How much have we paid for the economy to grow, how much in loans have we taken this year? They have put my and your grandchildren in debt", he concluded.
He reiterated that during the term of the current government Croatia borrowed around 100 billion kuna: "Thank God that elections will not be held in January, since then the debt would be precisely 100 billion kuna. They have been borrowing 25 billion kuna a year, that is how much our investment in their economy costs us", said Karamarko.
He added that the European economy has come to life a little, and Croatian businessmen and entrepreneurs have led to this small increase, which nobody can feel since the people are continuing to emigrate from Croatia. Karamarko added that the HDZ's economic manifesto is finished, and will be made public in due course.
Karamarko said it was a sad fact that Croatia imports 70 percent of the food, and that the growth of tourism leads only to increased consumption of someone else's products in our hotels. One of the first projects of the HDZ government will be to use Croatian quality goods to prevent the import of poor products from abroad.
Asked if HDZ already knows who will be in the next government, since he is convinced they will win the elections, Karamarko replied that he will announce the names when the time comes. "No, we have not agreed the names of ministers. It is too early for that. I will do it when the time comes, when it matures", said Karamarko in Drniš.
