Croatian Football League, Day 33 Review; Dinamo And Rijeka Win in Split

Dinamo won against Split, Rijeka against Hajduk, but the attendance was an issue once again.

The Croatian Football League is in its final stages, and with three rounds left, on April 25. 2016 we bring you the round-up of all the matches played in the last three days. Apart from the games, we noticed the attendances, which are once again showing the lack of belief in this competition by the football fans in Croatia.

Istra is in crisis, and after losing against Zagreb, they compromised even the relegation playoff game, as Zagreb now has the chance to catch up with them on the table. It will take a miracle comeback by Zagreb, but it is possible. We will mention the attendance for this game; there were 338 people at the Aldo Drosina Stadium on Friday.

Dinamo visited Split, playing against a team with big financial problems, which won what was probably the last dangerous match for them in the season. As they play Istra in the next round at home, and Lokomotiva in the last one, it is now safe to say that once again Dinamo are the Champions. This event was, apart from the Hajduk match - which is an exception to the rule in Croatia, the game with the highest attendance of the round; there were 700 people at Park Mladeži Stadium on Saturday.

Hajduk and Rijeka played the derby of the round, but with not much pressure, as both teams already know where will finish the season. It made the game more attractive than usual, and Rijeka won in the end, although Hajduk was once again denied a clear penalty. It feels like writing about this is a tradition when reporting about Hajduk matches.

Lokomotiva won against Osijek, with 341 people at Kranjčevićeva Stadium on Sunday evening, while 587 people watched the Slaven Belupo’s win against Inter on Monday.

As we added up the numbers, 1966 people were watching four games of the round, so if there were no 6369 supporters at Poljud Stadium in Split, the average would be less than 500 people per match. It is an issue that would alarm football officials in the most of the football federations in the World, but Croatian Football Federation is one of a kind.

Here are all the results, and the league table;
