By 9 January 2017

She secured her premiere second round of a WTA tournament

Croatian tennis player Jana Fett, ranked 340th in the WTA, achieved her greatest career victory and made it to the second round of a WTA tournament, after passing qualifications in Australian Hobart and defeating the former Roland Garros winner from 2010, Italian Francesca Schiavone with 6-3, 6-2, Jutarnji List reported on January 9, 2017.

The Zagreb native made it to the main lot of a WTA tournament for the first time in Hobart, starting her winning streak in qualifications and continued with an excellent match against the 36-year-old Italian. Fett broke the service of her opponent five times, losing games at the starting serve once every set.

The Croatian tennis player will face 19-year-old Australian Lizette Cabrera in the second round (216th in WTA) who received an invitation to the tournament and outplayed in the first round the 5th ranked in the tournament, Japanese Misaki Doi.

Fett is the only Croatian representative in Hobart, although the best Croatian female tennis player Ana Konjuh was registered, but had to pass due to a left toe injury.
