'Lovren: My Life as a Refugee' Premieres on LFCTV this Week, Watch the Trailer

By 6 February 2017

Liverpool FC is premiering a new documentary about Croatian footballer Dejan Lovren.

Premiering this Wednesday, Croatian national and Liverpool FC defender Dejan Lovren opens up in a documentary about his life - from war refugee to footballer at one of the biggest clubs in the world. The documentary will air for the first time at 22:00 GMT on Wednesday, February 8, reports Index.hr on February 6, 2017.

Lovren was born in 1989, and in the documentary he recalls fleeing from his home in the Bosnian town of Kraljeva Sutjeska as war broke out in 1992. His family then settled in Munich, Germany where Lovren went to school and began his football career. After just 7 years in Germany, Lovren and his family relocated to Croatia.

“I wish I could explain everything what happened. You hear so many stories, but nobody knows the real truth. It just happened. It just changed everything through the night - war between everyone, between three different cultures. People just changed - we heard so many stories on the radio and the television,” says the Liverpool defender who lost a cousin in the war just a week after his family's departure.

A refugee himself, Lovren has been a big advocate in the struggle to help Syrian refugees. "They deserve the opportunities that my parents and I had when we left Bosnia. I will always be grateful to Germany for that."

You can see the trailer for the documentary below. The documentary will be free to watch on LFCTV GO worldwide.
