RK Prvo plinarsko društvo Zagreb
More commonly known as RK Zagreb (RK stands for rukometni klub, which translates into “handball club”) or RK PPD Zagreb, this handball club is not only the most successful in Croatian handball club, but the most successful sports club in Croatia as well, with 60 titles.
Founded in 1922, the club changed sponsors, and sometimes that meant that the club’s name changed as well, so it was also known as RK Badel 1862 Zagreb, RK Banka Croatia Zagreb, and RK Croatia osiguranje Zagreb.
The club competes in the Croatian Premier Handball League, Croatian Handball Cup, SEHA League, and in the EHF Champions League. The club has won 25 consecutive titles in the Croatian Premier Handball League and 23 titles in the Croatian Handball Cup. It was also the EHF Champions League winner two times.
The team colours are blue and white, the club is nicknamed lavovi (the lions), and their arena is Arena Zagreb (Ulica Vice Vukova 8), with a capacity of 15,200. You can find out more about the club on their website, RK Zagreb.
