Dejan Lovren to Earn 118,000 EUR Per Week with New Liverpool Contract

By 29 April 2017

The Croatian defender has signed a new contract with the Merseyside club.

Croatian footballer Dejan Lovren has extended his contract with the English Premier League club Liverpool FC. Lovren's new contract will take him through 2021, reports N1 on April 28, 2017.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool by way of Southampton in 2014, and since then has been played 105 matches and scored four goals for the “Reds”. In this season alone, Lovren scored two goals for Liverpool after 28 games.

"I think this is a special day for me and my family," said the Croatian centre-half whose existing contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the 2018/19 season.

"I think I'm the happiest man in the world, it's like a dream come true. It has always been a dream of mine to stay at a club that I love for as long as possible, and it is Liverpool," Lovren added.

Lovren first came to Liverpool FC when the team was led by former manager Brendan Rodgers. Unfortunately, Lovren's first season did not go to plan, and the Croatian defender found himself unstable and plagued with injuries.

“After all that happened in the beginning, in the last two seasons I think I’ve done better than in the first season," said Lovren.

"The club has rewarded me, believes in me and so do the fans, and I respect that a lot after everything that has happened," he concluded.

Lovren is said to be earning 118,000 EUR per week with his new contract.
