At the World Cup 2018 in Russia next summer, Croatia will face Argentina, Iceland, Nigeria and in Group D!

Vedran Ćorluka welcomed the Croatian delegation which included Croatian coach Zlatko Dalić, HNS president Davor Šuker, HNS Executive Director Damir Vrbanović, Vice Presidents Ante Vučemilović-Šimunović and Ante Kulušić, Team Leader Iva Olivari, Security Commissioner Miroslav Marković, Ticket Commissioner Niksa Martinac and Spokesperson Tomislav Pacak.

The World Cup groups were determined according to the Fifa rankings for October 2017. In each of the four groups were eight national teams, and unlike in the previous world championships, the groups were not created according to the geographic key. No continent could have two teams in the same group except for Europe, which could not have more than two teams in a group.

The draw:

Group A: Russia, Uruguay, Egypt, Saudi Arabia

Group B: Portugal, Spain, Iran, Morocco

Group C: France, Peru, Denmark, Australia

Group D: Argentina, Croatia, Iceland, Nigeria

Group E: Brazil, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Serbia

Group F: Germany, Mexico, Sweden, South Korea

Group G: Belgium, England, Tunisia, Panama

Group H: Poland, Colombia, Senegal, Japan

Here’s a look at how the draw worked.

So, for example, in the same group with Brazil or Argentina could not be Colombia or Uruguay. While if Germany, Russia, or Poland were drawn, Croatia could not pull Denmark, Iceland, Sweden and Serbia.
