In true Split fashion, members of Simple Minds were photographed with Mayor Andro Krstulović Oparo in front of a photograph of Karepovac.
Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, the duo of Simple Minds, met Split mayor Andro Krstulović Opara in the City Office this morning. It was a friendly meeting, an informal gathering in which Kerr, who was delighted by the Split audience and at the last concert sang with a Hajduk scarf, asked the mayor if Hajduk would win the Cup this month, reports Dalmatinski Portal on May 5, 2018.
“Of course!” said Andro Krstulović Opara, an avid Hajduk supporter.
Kerr laughed at Opara, who said other mayors had works of prominent painters in their offices, while the Split mayor proudly boasts an image of Karepovac.
"You also have rockers," the media in attendance said.
Thus, the Scottish rockers and Opara posed together for a photo in front of the infamous landfill’s image.
As a souvenir, the rock duo received Hajduk jerseys personalized with their names.
The Simple Minds leader singer and a diehard Celtic fan sent Hajduk a message for winning next season’s title and this season’s Croatian Cup.
“Good luck!”
Simple Minds will play tonight on Žnjan at 20:00 to begin the weekend-long Sveti Duje celebrations.
