Hajduk reached a record number of members and got its representative elected for local CFF president
While the team is struggling with form at the moment, there is no crisis when the number of fans is concerned. Hajduk got to 30K members on March 11. 2016, in less than three months, and that is an achievement to be celebrated. Hajduk is a force, and a strong one at that but the fight for a fair relationship with the Croatian Football Federation is yet to be won.
This process is a hard and long one, as Hajduk hasn't had a representative of its own in CFF boards for years, so it is actually a breaking news that Mr. Vinko Radovani, Hajduk’s man, was elected president of the local CFF Board. Once again, Hajduk is trying to change things legally, but its fans are somewhat afraid of that. They do not want Hajduk to be brought to CFF just to level things up, and taking part in the distribution of power in CFF, they want fundamental changes in a way CFF is to be ruled.
As Mr. Radovani was elected almost unanimously, one cannot avoid raising the question what changed, as just a few months ago, Hajduk was not abče to get any support within the local CFF. What Hajduk fans are afraid of most is a theory according to which, this is just another political decision by HDZ officials, trying to cut Hajduk some slack while trying to avoid real changes. Hajduk in on a turning point in its history, so this is a big deal for its future, because if its representatives in the CFF will simply be a vote within the organization to help Hajduk, it will not be a success. Hajduk supporters demand significant changes in a way the entire federation is governed, not thinking solely about Hajduk, but all Croatian football clubs.
