Marin Čilić Through to Quarter-finals in Indian Wells

His next opponent is David Goffin

It took two hours and 15 minutes, but 10th seed Marin Čilić ultimately prevailed over eighth seed Richard Gasquet, reaching the quarter-finals with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 victory on March 16, 2016, in the ATP Indian Wells tournament.

The Croat led by a set and 5-3, but Gasquet reeled off four straight games to level the match. Čilić regained the advantage in the sixth game of the decider and won all the games to the end of the match.

Marin Čilić, the 2014 US Open champion, is through to the quarter-finals of Indian Wells for the first time in his career and goes on to face Belgian player David Goffin, who pulled off his second career win over a Top 10 player against Stanislas Wawrinka, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6. Čilić and Goffin met last week, in a Davis Cup match, and Goffin won 3-1.
