Croats in NBA: Dario Šarić Plays Best Game Yet for Timberwolves

By 25 November 2018

Dario Šarić became part of the Minnesota Timberwolves squad earlier this month.

Šibenik native Dario Šarić has played his best match since arriving in Minnesota earlier this month. In the Timberwolves 111:96 victory against Chicago, Šarić achieved a double-double, scoring 19 points, reports Index.hr on November 25, 2018.

The Croatian national team player hit 8 out of 15 shots in play, achieved 14 rebounds and had one steal. Also brilliant was Karl-Anthony Towns who scored 35 points and secured 22 rebounds. Minnesota found a way to win despite the catastrophic Robert Covington, a player who came to Minnesota from the 76ers with Šarić. Covington hit only one of his 18 shots in play last night. Yikes.

The Cleveland Cavaliers surprised everyone with their upset against Houston, winning 117:108 at home. Rookie Colin Sexton was the best with 29 points, Croatia’s Ante Žižić did not get a chance to play for the winning side, and James Harden scored 40 points.

Kevin Durant scored 44 points in the Golden State Warrior’s 117:116 win against the Sacramento Kings, with the hero being Klay Thompson who hit the winning basket.

Boston surprisingly lost away against the Dallas Mavericks (104: 113). The young Slovenian superstar Luka Dončić scored 15 points with eight assists, while JJ Barea and Harrison Barnes led with 20 points in the strong win.

Dario Šaric was part of a spectacular exchange between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this month. NBA stars Jimmy Butler and Justin Patton joined the 76ers, while Šarić and Robert Covington became new members of Minnesota.

The news broke just after Dario played an excellent game for the 76ers win against the Hornets where he collected 18 points. A few hours before the 76ers were to play against the Grizzlies in Memphis, the General Manager of the 76ers, Elton Brand, approached Dario and said he wouldn’t be playing as he’d been traded to Minnesota. Dario returned to the room, packed, and immediately headed to Minneapolis to join his new team.

"I didn’t know anything about my transfer to another club, and neither did my coach Brett Brown nor my General Manager at the 76ers. This is how the owners of the clubs came to an agreement and it is my job to play games in a new environment. This is how the NBA league works. I believe that I will quickly succeed there. As I have heard, I should begin with a good status at the Wolves’,” said Šarić.
