ZAGREB, 23 March 2022 - Croatia has registered 2,077 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours and 13 COVID patients have died, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Wednesday.

There are currently 10,713 active cases, including 633 hospitalised patients, 43 of whom are on ventilators.

There are also 6,442 people who are in self-isolation.

Croatia has registered a total of 1,087,635 cases of COVID-19 since its first case on 25 February 2020, and 15,476 people have died as a consequence while 1,061,446 have recovered from the contagion.

To date, a total of 2,236,651 people have been fully vaccinated, which is 65.67% of the adult population.

21 March 2022 - Croatia has recorded 292 new coronavirus cases and 16 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the national coronavirus response team reported on Monday.

The number of active cases currently stands at 9,488. Among them are 677 infected people who have been hospitalised and 40 of them of them are on ventilators, while 7,514 people are self-isolating.

A total of 4,623,826 people have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus to date, including 1,679 in the last 24 hours.

Since 25 February 2020, when the first case was confirmed in Croatia, 1,084,304 people have been registered as having been infected with the novel virus, of whom 15,451 have died and 1,059,365 have recovered, including 1,485 in the last 24 hours.

By Sunday, 5,216,368 COVID vaccine doses have been administered, with 56.91 per cent of the total population, or 67.69 per cent of adults, having been vaccinated. A total of 2,309,480 people have received at least one dose and 2,236,175 of them have been fully vaccinated, which is 65.66 per cent of the adult population.

 21 March 2022 - A Zagreb University research team has established a test that enables the measurement of the quantity of antibodies that can neutralise the SARS-CoV-2 virus, creating preconditions for the development, control and application of specific immunoglobulins in COVID-19 treatment in Croatia.

The research team of the Center for Research and Knowledge Transfer in Biotechnology, headed by Beata Halassy, has successfully established a wild-type SARS-CoV-2 neutralisation test, creating conditions for the development, control and application of specific immunoglobulins in the treatment of COVID-19 in Croatia, the University of Zagreb said in a press release.

"This is the most relevant test to assess virus immunity that enables the measurement of the quantity of antibodies capable of preventing the virus from entering our cells, that is, neutralising it," Zagreb University said.

A paper on the results of the research has been published in "Frontiers in Immunology", one of the leading immunology journals.

ZAGREB, 20 March 2022 - Croatia has recorded 901 new coronavirus cases and 10 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the national coronavirus response team reported on Sunday.

The number of active cases currently stands at 10,697. Among them are 661 infected people who have been hospitalised and 44 of them are on ventilators, while 8,338 people are self-isolating.

Over 4.62 million tests for the SARS-CoV-2 virus have been conducted to date, including 4,034 in the last 24 hours.

Since 25 February 2020, when the first case was confirmed in Croatia, 1,084,012 cases of this infectious disease have been diagnosed. As many as 15,435 patients have died and 1,057,880 have recovered, including 1,496 in the last 24 hours.

ZAGREB, 17 March 2022 - In the last 24 hours 2,032 coronavirus cases, out of 7,190 tests, and 9 related deaths have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Thursday.

There are 11,073 active cases, including 696 hospitalised patients, of whom 42 are on ventilators, while 7,388 persons are self-isolating.

Croatia has registered 1,079,397 coronavirus cases to date and the death tool is 15,392.

To date 56.9% of the total population, or 67.68% of adults, have been vaccinated against COVID, including 65.64% of adults fully.

March 16, 2022 - Nightclubs in Croatia could soon reopen as epidemiological measures in the country will be mitigated. 

COVID certificates are decreasingly sought after in institutions, and Croatia seeks to ease measures this week. Dnevnik Nova TV reporter Martina Bolšec Oblak is the first to find out the details from director of the CNIPH Krunoslav Capak.

Mitigating epidemiological measures have been announced in Croatia. 

"We have always paid attention to the balance between the economy, social life, and epidemiological measures that allow the epidemic to be kept under control as much as possible. All that remains are a few measures. What we can do is increase the number of people at gatherings. So far, it was 50 (indoors) or 100 (outdoors), now we will increase it to 100 or 200, and with COVID certificates, the number will be unlimited. Still, everyone should adhere to epidemiological measures," said the director of the CNIPH, Krunoslav Capak.

For the time being, catering facilities are only open until midnight, but changes could be introduced in that sector as well.

"We are thinking of extending that time because it allows nightclubs, slot machine clubs, and so on longer working hours. So it will probably be until 2 am. It is also being discussed, and a decision will be made in the next 24 to 48 hours," he said.

Sport and culture are also in the package.

"We will make some concessions when it comes to sporting and cultural events. For example, we will allow stadiums to be full with COVID certificates, and if they don't have certificates, there is a provision on the distance between spectators. As for cultural events, we had restrictions on four square meters without COVID certificates. Now, we will abolish those four meters where COVID certificates are required and give in to cultural and artistic performances," Capak explained.

More and more people in public transport and shops are not wearing masks. "Masks remain as a measure in all indoor and outdoor areas where space cannot be maintained, but masks are an epidemiological measure we had before vaccination and COVID certification, and they to some extent protect against the spread of all respiratory infections including corona," he added.

There will also be a change in the isolation of kindergarten children. "This measure is not the subject of this decision, but it is a matter of HZJZ regulation in agreement with the Ministry of Science and Education. It is being discussed, and it is possible that the self-isolation measure for kindergarten children will be abolished in the next few days," he said. "We only have tested at school. Therefore, there would be no testing among kindergarten children, and we would not know if someone is asymptomatic, but if the child is sick, they stay at home. If they are healthy, they go to kindergarten normally," concluded Capak.

14 March 2022 - Croatia has recorded 141 new coronavirus cases and 18 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the national coronavirus response team reported on Monday.

The number of active cases currently stands at 8,497. Among them are 774 infected people who have been hospitalised and 51 of them are on ventilators, while 6,441 people are self-isolating.

A total of 4,585,240 people have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus to date, including 1,348 in the last 24 hours.

Since 25 February 2020, when the first case was confirmed in Croatia, 1,073,527 people have been registered as having been infected with the novel virus, of whom 15,354 have died and 1,049,676 have recovered, including 1,456 in the last 24 hours.

By Saturday, 5,209,291 COVID vaccine doses have been administered, with 56.89 per cent of the total population, or 67.66 per cent of adults, having been vaccinated. A total of 2,308,535 people have received at least one dose and 2,234,396 of them have been fully vaccinated, which is 65.61 per cent of the adult population.

March 14, 2022 - The Zagreb Fair, which from the beginning was the main mass vaccination point in the Croatian capital, will no longer fulfill these functions, according to the "Dr. Andrija Štampar" Institute, which also announced new vaccination points and schedules.

The Institute of Public Health "Dr. Andrija Štampar'' informed on Monday that the point for mass vaccination at the Zagreb Fair will no longer be operational, and the working hours of vaccination places in health centers are also changing, reports Večernji List.

The Zagreb Fair, located on Dubrovnik Avenue in Novi Zagreb, was the main point of mass vaccination in the Croatian capital to this day.

According to the new working hours, the vaccination sites of the NZJZ "Dr. Andrija Štampar", without prior order, will be at two locations: Mirogojska cesta 16, Great Hall, will be open on Mondays and Fridays from 16 to 19 hours. While Avenija Većeslava Holjevca 22 at the Health Center Zagreb - Center, will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2 to 6 p.m.

Vaccination is also possible at the vaccination point organized by HZJZ and ŠNZ Andrija Štampar (Rockefellerova 4), on Wednesdays from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Drive and testing at NZJZ “Dr. Andrija Štampar” (Mirogojska cesta 16) will be open from Saturday to Sunday, March 12, from 8 am to 11 am, with prior ordering via the platform.
