ZAGREB, 3 July 2022 - In the last 24 hours, 813 coronavirus cases, out of 2,798 tests, and six related deaths have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Sunday.

There are 6,336 active cases, including 275 hospitalized patients, five of whom are on ventilators, while 3,142 persons are self-isolating.

To date, Croatia has registered 1,151,466 coronavirus cases, the death toll is 16,079, and 70.82% of the adult population has been vaccinated, including 68.78% fully.

ZAGREB, 13 May 2022 - In the last 24 hours 726 coronavirus cases, out of 3,772 tests, and eight related deaths have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Friday.

There are 4,583 active cases, including 361 hospitalised patients, 17 of whom are on ventilators, while 2,448 persons are self-isolating.

ZAGREB, 5 May 2022 - Croatia has recorded 961 new coronavirus cases and nine COVID-related deaths in the past 24 hours, the national coronavirus response team reported on Thursday.

The number of active cases in the country now stands at 5,621, and 401 patients are being treated in hospital, including 17 placed on ventilators, while 2,746 people are self-isolating.

To date, 4,804,096 people have tested for the SARS CoV-2 virus, including 4,421 in the past 24 hours.

A total of 5.24 million COVID vaccine doses have been administered, and 59.50% of the total population, or 70.76% of the adult population, have been inoculated, including 68.69% of adults fully.

January 25, 2022 - The Croatian Public Health Institute has announced new isolation rules in Croatia for children, health & social care workers, and asymptomatic persons. 

The Croatian Public Health Institute has published new recommendations on the treatment of patients, contacts and isolation, and self-isolation.

News about self-isolation applies to children, health and social workers, asymptomatic persons, and persons with a mild to moderate clinical picture.

Change in self-isolation for children
Children up to the age of 18 who have been primarily vaccinated and have recovered and received one dose of the vaccine are exempt from isolation, regardless of how much time has passed since vaccination.

Children exempted from isolation should, during the ten days of close contact with an infected person, minimize contact with people over 60 and people with severe chronic diseases and wear a mask on all occasions when immediate contact is impossible to avoid.

It is also recommended that they take a home test five to seven days after close contact with an infected person. In case of symptoms, they should be tested by rapid antigen or PCR test.

Changes in health and social care
Healthcare professionals and employees in the social welfare system whose isolation has been shortened to seven days due to a previous illness or vaccination should take a quick antigen test before returning to work (PCR can be performed if testing capacities allow) and return to work only after a negative result.

A rapid antigen test (BAT) should be performed if a person develops symptoms. In the case of a positive BAT finding, the person undergoes isolation for at least seven days, with the day of onset of symptoms being counted as day zero.

In case of negative BAT findings, it is recommended to repeat BAT after 24-48 hours. In case of repeated negative results, quarantine should be terminated after seven days, with strict adherence to epidemiological measures and continuous wearing of the mask for the next seven days.

Shortened isolation for asymptomatic persons
Isolation was shortened for asymptomatic persons and persons with a mild to moderate clinical picture who were not immunocompromised for seven days and more than four months after primary vaccination or recovery. HZJZ explicitly states that in this case, we are talking about adults.

ZAGREB, 10 Dec 2021 - Croatia has registered 3,797 new coronavirus cases and 71 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the national coronavirus response team reported on Friday.

The number of active cases stands at 26,824 and among them 2,329 infected persons are receiving hospital treatment, including 326 who are on ventilators.

A total of 23,617 people are self-isolating.

Since 25 February 2020, when the first case was confirmed in Croatia, 648,003 people have been registered as having contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus, of whom 11,516 have died.

A total of 609,663 people have recovered, including 4,585 in the last 24 hours.

To date, 3,559,322 people have tested for the new virus, of whom 11,178 in the last 24 hours.

As of Thursday, 4,338,159 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered, with 54.74 per cent of the total population, or 65.28 per cent of the adult population, having been vaccinated. A total of 2,221,412 people have received at least one dose and 2,019,336 of them have been fully vaccinated, which is 59.56 per cent of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 12 Nov - The COVID-19 situation has continued to deteriorate in the European Union and is considered "very worrying" in ten countries, including Croatia, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECD) said on Friday, as quoted by the French news agency AFP.

Of the 27 EU member states, the situation is very worrying in Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary and Slovenia, the ECDC said.

The most favourable epidemiological situation is in Italy, Malta, Spain and Sweden, it added.

Croatia remained "dark red" on the ECDC's latest COVID-19 map, released on Thursday.

In the EU and the European Economic Area, 81.1 per cent of people aged above 18 have received at least one dose of vaccine, the ECDC said.

In Croatia, over 50,000 people have received their first shot in the last three days, Health Minister Vili Beroš tweeted.

ZAGREB, 12 Nov (Hina) - Over the past 24 hours, Croatia has registered 6,449 new cases of the coronavirus infection and there have been 53 related deaths, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Friday.

The number of active cases in Croatia currently stands at 39,846, including 2,086 patients in hospitals, 251 of whom are on ventilators, and 30,252 people are in self-isolation.

To date, a total of 3,246,065 people have been tested, including 15,067 in the last 24 hours.

A total of 3,790,884 vaccine doses have been administered, and 49.1% of the population has been vaccinated, including 59.20% of adults, of whom 54.55% have been fully vaccinated.

ZAGREB, 23 Oct 2021 - In the past 24 hours Croatia has registered 3,585 coronavirus cases and 25 related deaths, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Saturday.

There are 17,319 active cases, including 1,033 hospitalized patients, of whom 128 are on ventilators, while 27,714 persons are self-isolating.

Croatia has registered 443,032 coronavirus cases to date as well as 9,010 COVID deaths and 416,703 recoveries, including 1,541 in the past 24 hours, while 3,026,033 persons have been tested for the virus, with 11,193 in the past 24 hours.

To date, 46.46% of the population has been vaccinated, including 55.67% of adults, of whom 52.43% fully.

ZAGREB, 22 Oct 2021 - In the past 24 hours Croatia has registered 3,258 coronavirus cases and 17 related deaths, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Friday.

Such a high number of new infections was last reported in April.

There are 15,300 active cases, including 997 hospitalised patients, of whom 135 are on ventilators, while 25,359 persons are self-isolating.

Croatia has registered 439,447 coronavirus cases to date as well as 8,985 COVID deaths and 415,162 recoveries, including 1,658 in the past 24 hours, while 3,014,840 persons have been tested for the virus, with 10,309 in the past 24 hours.

To date 46.37% of the population has been vaccinated, including 55.57% of adults, of whom 52.31% fully.
