ZAGREB, 10 Sept 2021 - Croatia has registered 1,042 new coronavirus cases and eight COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the national COVID-19 response team said on Friday.

The number of active cases currently stands at 5,691. Among them are 552 infected people who are receiving hospital treatment, including 59 patients who are on ventilators.

Since 25 February 2020, when the first case was reported in Croatia, 381,949 people have been registered as having contracted the novel virus, of whom 8,413 have died and 367,842 have recovered, including 678 in the last 24 hours. Currently, 11,647 people are self-isolating.

To date, 2,638,469 people have been tested for COVID-19, of whom 10,353 in the last 24 hours.

By 9 September, 3,321,265 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered, with 43.24% of the total population, or 51.92% of adults, having been vaccinated.

A total of 1,754,731 persons have received at least one dose of a vaccine and of them 1,643,710 have been fully inoculated (1,566,534 persons have received two doses and 77,176 have receive the single-dose Jannsen vaccine), which is 48.70% of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 9 Sept 2021 - Health Minister Vili Beroš said on Thursday that more and more unvaccinated people from younger age groups were being admitted to hospital due to COVID-19 infection.

By comparison, the average age of COVID hospitalized patients in the fourth wave is six years lower than in the third wave, and the average age of COVID patients placed on ventilators has fallen from 69 to 64 years, Beroš told the cabinet meeting.

 94% of patients on ventilators not vaccinated against COVID

The minister emphasized that 94% of COVID patients on ventilators had not been vaccinated against the disease.  He added that since the start of September when 5,360 new cases had been registered, 81.2% were unvaccinated cases.

In the period from 30 August to 5 September, 16.6% of new cases were children mainly aged between 15 and 18.

The minister said that the overall costs concerning the coronavirus pandemic increased to HRK 3 billion.

The costs of treatment have so far reached HRK 1.17 billion, which is equivalent to the cost of building a new hospital at Sušak in Rijeka, he said.

Interior Minister Davor Božinović announced the possibility of the current anti-epidemic rules being extended over the next period.

ZAGREB, 9 Sept 2021 - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said at a government session on Thursday that Croatia's turning red on the epidemiological map of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) was as expected given the spread of the much more contagious Delta coronavirus variant. 

"After it was orange and green on the ECDC map the whole summer, Croatia has now turned red, which is as expected considering the rise in the number of infections," he said.

"We are faced with the much more contagious Delta variant, which is more aggressive and spreads faster, and Croatia is already seeing an increase in the number of infections. We continue to insist that vaccination is the best and most efficient way to protect ourselves," he stressed, noting that so far close to 52% of the adult population had been vaccinated.

He recalled the basic epidemiological measures, such as room airing, physical distancing, mask-wearing, and personal hygiene, warning citizens against relaxing entirely.

The epidemiological restrictions applied in Croatia were appropriate to our mentality, health protection, and economic and financial trends, Plenković said, adding that compared to other countries, they had enabled a very good quality of life for Croatian citizens.

"Now it is important that the figures that are relevant at the moment - the number of hospitalizations, the number of patients in serious condition and the number of fatalities - be kept as low as possible," he said, adding that of the ten latest fatalities, only two had been vaccinated.

Most important part of tourist season without alarming situations

He expressed satisfaction with the tourist season, noting that there had been no alarming situations during the peak season.

Commenting on the coming census, he said that for the first time citizens would be able to self-enumerate via the e-Citizens (e-Građani) system.

The census will be conducted digitally from 13 to 26 September, after which data will be collected by around 8,000 census-takers, who will be in the field until 17 October, Plenković said.

ZAGREB, 9 Sept 2021 - In the last 24 hours, 9,987 coronavirus tests have been performed in Croatia and of them, 941 (9.4%) have returned positive, while the COVID-19-related death toll has risen by 10 to 8,405, the national COVID-19 crisis management team reported on Thursday.

There are currently 5,335 active cases and, among them, 554 are receiving hospital treatment, including 58 patients on ventilators.

Since its first registered case of the coronavirus infection on 25 February 2020, Croatia has tested 2,628,116 people. The country has registered 380,904 positive cases and 367,164 recoveries, of which 605 in the past 24 hours.

So far, 43.13% of the total population, or 51.79% of adults, have been vaccinated. The share of the fully vaccinated adult population is 48.59%.

ZAGREB, 6 Sept 2021 - In the past 24 hours, 184 coronavirus cases and five deaths have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Monday.

Currently, 8,661 persons are self-isolating.

To date, 2,597,124 persons have been tested for the virus, including 3,942 in the past 24 hours.

Croatia has registered 378,022 coronavirus cases to date, including 8,375 deaths and 365,615 recoveries, of which 578 in the past 24 hours.

To date, 42.91% of the total population has been vaccinated against COVID-19, including 51.53% of adults, 48.31% of whom have completed vaccination.

ZAGREB, 2 Sept 2021 - In the last 24 hours, Croatia has performed 9,989 coronavirus tests, and 8% of them, that is 798, have turned out to be positive, and 11 COVID patients have died, bringing the COVID-related death toll to 8,349, the national coronavirus crisis management team stated on Thursday.

Currently, there are 3,943 active cases of infection in the country, and of them, 450 are receiving hospital treatment, including 53 patients placed on ventilators.

Since 25 February 2020 when Croatia reported its first registered COVID case, more than 2.56 million tests have been conducted, showing that 375,601 people have caught the virus. Of them, 363,309 have recovered to date.

Since the start of its vaccine rollout, Croatia has administered nearly 3.3 million vaccines, and 42.64% of the population, or 51.22 of the adult citizens, have been vaccinated.

To date, 1,619, 592  citizens,  that is 47.99% of the adult population, have fully been immunized.

ZAGREB, 30 Aug 2021 - In the past 24 hours, 139 new coronavirus cases and six COVID-19-related deaths were registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Monday.

There are currently 3,014 active cases, including 427 hospitalised patients, 55 of whom are on ventilators.

Since 25 February 2020, when the first case of the disease was reported in Croatia, 373,330 cases of the infection have been reported and 8,331 people have died.

A total of 361,985 people have recovered, including 450 in the past 24 hours. 

Currently, 7,744 people are self-isolating.

A total of 2,534,386 tests have been conducted, including 3,784 in the past 24 hours.

As of 29 August, 3,258,375 vaccine doses have been administered, with 42.38% of the population having been vaccinated or 50.91% of the adult population.

One dose has been administered to 1,719,744 people while 1,607,430 people have received both shots and 68,799 people have received the single-dose Jannsen vaccine, which makes 47.64% of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 26 Aug 2021 - In the past 24 hours, 638 coronavirus cases and six COVID-related deaths have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Thursday.

The number of active cases is 3,253 and there are 358 hospitalized patients, including 43 on ventilators, while 7,058 persons are self-isolating.

To date, 2,501,327 tests for the virus have been conducted, including 10,428 in the last 24 hours.

To date, 3,236,170 vaccine doses have been administered, with 42.09% of the population having been vaccinated, including 50.57% of adults.

One dose has been administered to 1,708,154 persons while 1,594,019 persons have been fully vaccinated -- 1,528,016 have received both doses and 66,003 have received the single-dose Janssen vaccine -- which is 47.25% of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 18 Aug 2021 - In the past 24 hours, 524 coronavirus cases and three COVID-related deaths have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Wednesday.

The number of active cases is 2,124 and there are 235 hospitalized patients, including 26 on ventilators, while 5,811 persons are self-isolating.

To date, Croatia has registered 367,518 coronavirus cases and 8,291 deaths, while 357,518 persons have recovered from COVID-19, including 200 in the past 24 hours.

To date, 2,427,268 persons have been tested for the virus, including 9,879 in the past 24 hours when a share of positive tests was 5.3%.

One in two adults get vaccinated

To date, 3,182,592 vaccine doses have been administered, with 41.5% of the population vaccinated, including 49.89% of adults.

One dose has been administered to 1,684,554 persons, while 1,558,636 persons have been fully vaccinated - 1,498,038 who have received both doses and 60,598 who have received a single-dose Janssen vaccine -- which is 46.22% of the adult population.
