May 26, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as the Qatar Airways Zagreb route is boosted for the 2022 World Cup later this year. 

Qatar Airways, a member of the One World Alliance, has made changes to the type of aircraft on more than 80 international routes in the last two days, including the route to Zagreb. These are operational changes have been made due to the World Cup, which expects great demand for flights to this country, reports Croatian Aviation.

Due to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Qatar Airways is increasing the number of flights to Zagreb and will also use wide-body aircraft on the route.

Namely, from November 17 to December 20 this year, Qatar Airways will operate daily between Zagreb and Doha, with evening departures from Zagreb. Furthermore, instead of the narrow-body aircraft type A320, the wide-body aircraft type Boeing 787-8 will operate on the route.

The World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18 this year, and the national airline is preparing for high demand for its flights. Thus, as mentioned earlier, only in the past two days has the airline made operational changes on more than 80 international lines

Between Doha and Zagreb, the B787-8 will operate a total of 34 return flights, offering Qatar Airways a total of 17,136 seats, of which almost 1,500 seats are available in business class.

Qatar Airways B787-8 aircraft in the business class have a 1-2-1 configuration, while in economy class in the classic 3-3-3 configuration. Recall that before the pandemic in the summer of 2019, Qatar Airways operated twice a day between Zagreb and Doha, and the wide-bodied B787-8 was supposed to arrive in Zagreb in the 2020 summer flight schedule, but that did not happen due to the pandemic. 

The Croatia national team will play this November at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in Group F against Morocco, Canada, and Belgium. Croatia will open the tournament against Morocco on November 23 at 11 am local time at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. The second round is scheduled four days later, on November 27, when Croatia plays Canada at 5 pm at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha. The Group F derby is played on December 1, when Croatia and Belgium will play at 4 pm at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan.

If Croatia is one of the first two national teams in their group, they will cross paths with Group E, where Spain and Germany are the favorites to pass, while the group also includes Japan and either Costa Rica or New Zealand.

May 25, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Air Serbia flights to Croatia have been significantly boosted from Belgrade this summer. 

Serbian national airline Air Serbia will launch two seasonal routes to Split and Dubrovnik by the end of May, and flights from Belgrade to Pula, Rijeka, and Zadar by mid-June, reports Croatian Aviation.

Namely, Air Serbia plans to operate to six Croatian airports this summer, with only the route to Zagreb being year-round.

Already this Thursday, May 26, two lines will start operating from Belgrade to Split and Dubrovnik. These are also the two most popular of Air Serbia lines to and from Croatia.

The line between Belgrade and Split will operate from May 26, twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, and the number of weekly operations will gradually increase. Namely, first on June 6, an additional flight will be introduced on Mondays, and then on June 24 with a flight on Fridays, which will allow Air Serbia to operate between the two cities four times a week, using ATR72, A319, and A320 aircraft.

The line between Dubrovnik and Belgrade will start operating on the same day. Currently, two flights a week have been announced, also on Thursdays and Sundays, with an additional flight available on Mondays from June 13. ATR72 and A319 aircraft have also been announced on this route.

From mid-June, there will be lines from Belgrade to Pula, Rijeka, and Zadar, and everything will start around the same period. Namely, the line between Belgrade and Zadar will start with traffic from June 14 with two flights a week, a day later (June 15), the line between Belgrade and Rijeka will begin, and from June 16, flights between Belgrade and Pula will launch. 

All three mentioned lines have announced two flights a week in June with ATR72 aircraft. The line to Zadar will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays, to Rijeka on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and to Pula on Thursdays and Sundays.

The only year-round Air Serbia route between Belgrade and Zagreb will also have more flights in June than the current schedule. Namely, on Mondays and Fridays, the airline will offer two flights a day between the two cities, while one daily flight is available on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

In June, Air Serbia will operate on 6 mentioned routes to Croatia with a total of 20 weekly flights, which is a significant increase, especially compared to the same period last year and the year before. The number of flights will continue to grow in the peak summer season.

May 23, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as 45 British Airways Split flights will operate next month, with daily operations in June between Heathrow and Split Airport!

Oneworld alliance member British Airways recently reduced the number of weekly rotations to Zagreb in July, justifying the move by lower demand and a shortage of crew and aircraft, but also increased the number of weekly flights to Split starting next month, reports Croatian Aviation. 

In June, British Airways will operate 45 return flights between the two London airports and Split Airport, and from May 28, one aircraft will spend the night on Saturday in Resnik.

Namely, Saturday's arrival of the plane from Heathrow to Split is scheduled after 11 pm, with an early departure from Split back to London the next day, which is certainly positive news for the airport and some of the hotels nearby where the crew will spend the night.

British Airways will operate daily between Heathrow and Split in June, and two flights a day are available on certain days of the week, especially Saturdays and Sundays.

In addition to the Heathrow route, British Airways will operate a regular seasonal route between London City Airport and Split this summer, and according to the latest announcements, this route should operate from June 17, three times a week, every Monday, Thursday, and Friday.

More than 15,000 seats are available on the line between Heathrow and Split in June alone, as well as an additional 1,100 additional seats to London City Airport. This is excellent news for Split Airport which is already expecting one of its busiest summer seasons after taking the title of the busiest airport in Croatia in 2021!

British Airways also operates to Zagreb and Dubrovnik, and the fourth destination in Croatia will soon be Pula Airport.

May 22, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Condor Rijeka and Dubrovnik flights resumed this weekend, and Smartwings canceled Prague-Dubrovnik flights for the summer. 

On May 21, the German leisure airline Condor resumed traffic to two Croatian airports - Rijeka and Dubrovnik, reports Croatian Aviation. Condor thus resumed traffic to Rijeka and Dubrovnik on four international lines from Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.

Rijeka Airport

Rijeka Airport is already connected to Frankfurt by Lufthansa, which currently operates on this route once a week, every Saturday. On May 25, the airline will introduce a second weekly flight, on Wednesdays.

In addition to Lufthansa, Condor will operate on this route once a week, also on Saturdays, until the end of September, so Rijeka Airport has a regular connection with Frankfurt three times a week. On the first Condor flight from Frankfurt, 103 passengers arrived in Rijeka, while 33 of them traveled from Rijeka.

Condor also launched the announced line between Rijeka and Dusseldorf, which will run twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. 146 passengers arrived in Rijeka on the first Condor flight, while 22 of them traveled from Kvarner to Düsseldorf. Rijeka is connected to Düsseldorf by a regular Eurowings line, which launched yesterday. It should also be mentioned that Eurowings is introducing a line from Stuttgart, and today from Berlin and Hamburg to Rijeka.

Dubrovnik Airport

Condor resumed traffic to Dubrovnik Airport, also with lines from Dusseldorf and Frankfurt, and both will be in traffic once a week, every Saturday.

Dubrovnik is connected to Frankfurt by regular lines of Croatia Airlines and Lufthansa, while the line between Dubrovnik and Dusseldorf, in addition to Condor, is also operated by Eurowings.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that Czech airline Smartwings has withdrawn all flights previously announced for this summer season on the seasonal route between Prague and Dubrovnik. The airline will operate exclusively to Split.

The Prague-Dubrovnik line was supposed to operate daily during the peak season. 

Smartwings will operate between Prague and Split this summer and the line is already in traffic. The number of weekly flights will gradually increase from four to seven flights a week, and flights between the two cities are planned until October 9 this year.

May 20, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as two Aegean Airlines Zagreb flights will run weekly from Athens from June 15!

Greek national airline Aegean Airlines will operate on a regular seasonal route between Athens and Zagreb from mid-June, reports Croatian Aviation.

Namely, the Star Alliance alliance member is renewing the line between Athens and Zagreb as of June 15. Two flights a week have been announced, every Wednesday and Saturday, and A320 aircraft will operate on the route.

Recall, Aegean introduced a regular line between the two cities in May 2018 with three flights a week in traffic, but with a smaller capacity aircraft type DashQ400. The line operated until the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and then the airline announced its return to the Croatian capital in the previous two summer seasons, though never fulfilled its promise. 

Given that there has been a significant increase in market demand, especially compared to the previous two seasons, the Greek airline will still operate on this route this summer, twice a week, and the first flight was announced in less than a month.

In 34 rotations, from mid-June to early October, Aegean Airlines offers a total of 12,036 seats between Zagreb and Athens, and A320 and A320NEO aircraft have been announced on the route, with 174 and 180 seats in the carrier's fleet, respectively.

Zagreb and Athens will also be connected by the regular Croatia Airlines line, which will operate from June 2 until the end of the summer flight schedule, i.e., the end of October. It is a long-term seasonal line between two cities with a stop at Dubrovnik Airport, and DashQ400 aircraft with a capacity of 76 seats operate on the line. 

Croatia Airlines will operate a total of 63 rotations on this route in the summer season, offering 10,448 seats, three flights a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

A total of 22,484 seats between these two carriers will be available between Athens and Zagreb this summer, both of which are members of the same aviation association.

May 19, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as 16 Wizz Air flights to Split and Dubrovnik will run this summer, offering more than 370,000 seats to and from Croatia during the tourist season. 

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air plans to operate to two Croatian airports, Split and Dubrovnik, on a total of 16 international routes this summer, which is more than last year's summer flight schedule, reports Croatian Aviation. 

Wizz Air is still negotiating with certain airports in Croatia, so there is a chance that more new routes will be announced in the peak season, although the chances are getting smaller as we approach the summer.

Currently, 16 international lines to Split and Dubrovnik are available for booking. 

Lines from Split to:

Vienna, from 1 June, three times a week, until the end of September,

Rome, from June 6, four times a week, until the end of September,

Vilnius, from June 13, twice a week, until the end of September,

Gdansk, from June 13, twice a week, until the end of September,

Katowice, from June 4, three to five times a week, until the end of October,

Krakow, from June 4, three to five times a week, until the end of October,

Lublin, from June 13, twice a week, until the end of September,

Poznan, from June 17, twice a week, until the end of September,

Warsaw, from June 14, three times a week, until the end of October,

Wroclaw, from June 6, two to three times a week, until the end of October,

London (Luton), from June 13, daily, until early October

Lines from Dubrovnik to:

Vienna, from June 4, three times a week, until the end of September,

Rome, from June 13, three times a week, until the end of September,

Warsaw, from June 13, twice a week, until the end of September,

Wroclaw, from August 4, twice a week, until the end of September,

London (Luton), from July 4, four times a week, until the end of October.

Currently, 1,778 operations have been announced on these lines for this summer, with most, of course, to Split Airport. A320 and A321 aircraft with a capacity of 180 to 230 seats have been announced on all routes.

Thus, 282,150 seats are available to and from Split on Wizz Air, while 89,452 seats are available to and from Dubrovnik Airport.

The Hungarian airline is offering more than 370 thousand seats to and from Croatia in the upcoming summer season, and most of the routes will start operating in the first half of June, or in a little less than a month.

May 18, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as 14 easyJet Zadar and Pula flights will operate this summer. 

British low-cost carrier easyJet will operate to five Croatian airports this summer. While it has already announced several routes to Pula, the carrier will soon increase the number of operations and resume flights to Zadar Airport, reports Croatian Aviation.

This summer, easyJet will operate 5 international routes to Zadar Airport and 9 routes to Pula Airport. 

Namely, easyJet will operate on 9 international routes to Pula Airport this summer from:

Berlin (already in traffic), three to four times a week,

Bristol (already in circulation), twice a week,

London (already in traffic), three to seven times a week,

Amsterdam, from 29.06., twice a week,

Basel, from 28.06., three times a week,

Geneva, from 29.06., twice a week,

Glasgow, from 27.06., twice a week,

Luton, from 04.06., twice a week, and

Paris, from 27.06., three times a week.

From mid-May to the end of the summer flight schedule, easyJet will offer more than 125,000 seats to and from Pula Airport on the 9 listed routes.

easyJet is announcing fewer flights to Zadar Airport, or a total of 5 international routes, all of which will start operating at the end of June. easyJet will thus operate from Zadar to:

Amsterdam, from 28.06., twice a week,

Basel, from 27.06, three to four times a week,

Berlin, from 28.06., twice a week,

London, from 28.06., twice a week, and

Milan, from 28.06., four times a week.

Due to the smaller number of routes and weekly rotations, easyJet will offer almost 50,000 seats to and from Zadar Airport this summer, but passengers to and from Zadar are not a problem given that Ryanair has a large base at this airport. For the airport itself, it would certainly be better if the number of routes was diversified across multiple airlines.

In the peak summer season, easyJet will have several lines to Split and Dubrovnik, while only two lines have been announced to Rijeka.

May 16, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as the highly anticipated seasonal United Airlines Dubrovnik flight from New York returns at the end of the month!

United Airlines is renewing its regular seasonal route between New York (Newark Airport) and Dubrovnik in a few weeks. The line started operating last year and has proven to be very successful for the American airline, reports Croatian Aviation. 

United Airlines will soon return to Croatia when the first wide-body aircraft from New York will land at Dubrovnik Airport. United introduced this line last summer, shortly after Croatia announced clear criteria for entry from the United States into Croatia. The American Delta Air Lines did the same, so the two airlines offered 8 weekly flights between New York (John F. Kennedy and Newark Airports) and Dubrovnik.

Delta gave up the line to Dubrovnik this winter, leaving room to return to southern Croatia next summer, but United took the opportunity to be the only airline to offer a direct connection between the United States and Croatia.

United Airlines B767-300ER aircraft will operate four times a week on the route between New York and Dubrovnik, departing from Dubrovnik every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, from May 29 to September 29 this year.

Last summer, United Airlines operated on a regular route from the beginning of July to the end of September, while this year the operations start at the end of May and remain in operation until the end of September. Thanks to a longer flight availability period, the airline is offering 8,000 more seats this summer season compared to last year (29,960 compared to 21,928 seats from the 2021 summer season).

Croatia Airlines and United Airlines, two Star Alliance Group members, have signed a code-share agreement, so it is possible to buy tickets on the website of the American carrier departing from Zagreb to New York with a transfer in Dubrovnik.

May 13, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Croatia Airlines Zurich flights and Turkish Airlines Croatia flights are announced from next month.

Croatia Airlines and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board presented in Zurich to Swiss business (B2B) journalists and travel agents. The presentation was also attended by Andrea Bekić, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Switzerland and Slobodan Mikac, Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in Switzerland, reports Croatian Aviation.

This year's Croatia Airlines summer flight schedule was presented with an emphasis on direct international flights from Dubrovnik to Zurich, which are planned from June 1, 2022, four times a week - Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Return tickets are available to passengers on this route for as little as 143 euros.

On the same day, regular flights from Zurich to Split will run four times a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In addition, daily flights between Zurich and Zagreb are available to passengers from Switzerland.

Dubrovnik is a distinct air destination and the development of air transport is very important for the tourist facilities of the city and Dubrovnik-Neretva County, which offer domestic and foreign tourists a wealth of natural, historical, cultural and many other beauties and features.

This season, Croatia Airlines will connect Croatia with 21 international destinations, i.e., 22 European airports, flying on 41 international routes. In that period, more than 16,000 flights and about 1,766,000 seats will be offered.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that Turkish Airlines announced its flight schedule for June. It plans to increase the number of weekly rotations to Croatia, which includes flights between Istanbul, Zagreb and Dubrovnik.

Flights between Istanbul and Zagreb will continue to operate 14 times a week and 2 times a day, respectively, with morning and evening departures from Zagreb Airport, but a larger number of flights has been announced to Dubrovnik Airport.

Namely, as of Monday, June 13, Turkish Airlines plans to operate daily between Istanbul and Dubrovnik, which will increase the number of weekly flights to and from Croatia to 21.

Narrow-body A320 and A321 aircraft have been announced to Zagreb and Dubrovnik.

May 11, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as six Brač Airport routes from Zagreb, Italy, Austria, and Slovakia have been announced this summer!

In April this year, Brač Airport accepted and dispatched 137 passengers, most of whom flew on the domestic line to Zagreb, which had just begun operating. And now, six flights to Brač Airport have been announced for this year's summer flight schedule, reports Croatian Aviation. 

Namely, this year, Brač Airport will again be directly connected to Zagreb by the regular PSO line of the Croatian national airline, Croatia Airlines. This line already operates every Tuesday and Saturday, and Croatia Airlines will conduct a number of charter flights from this Croatian airport to Austria and Slovakia, just like last summer.

In addition to the announced SkyAlps flights to Bolzano and Milan (Bergamo), which will operate from mid-May and early July, Brač will also have regular Croatia Airlines charter flights to Linz and Graz!

The charter line to Graz will start soon, on May 14, while the line to Linz will start on May 21. In addition, Croatia Airlines will again operate on the charter line between Bratislava and Brač from the beginning of July this year.

As for the announced regular and charter flights, there will be traffic on Brač on Saturday from the beginning of July, and six landings and six take-offs to the mentioned destinations have been announced. 

In the first four months of this year, Brač received and dispatched a total of 195 passengers, and the numbers will grow significantly in May.

"This year, Croatia Airlines will operate flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays. There is an announcement of a flight from Bratislava, then Bolzano Bergamo and Vienna and Graz, which Croatia Airlines operates mainly for guests of the hotel "Bretanide." We hope that the season ahead of us, despite the events in Ukraine, will still be good. Our projections are between 80 and 90 percent of the 2019 tourism results. We’ll see how the season goes. It is difficult to predict in advance what the situation will be like. However, the preparations are going well, and we expect good tourist results," Brač Tourist Board director Markito Marinković said last month.
