CNTB Arranges Cooperation With Lonely Planet and Discovery

November 3, 2021 - The Croatian delegation continues with activities to promote the country at the World Travel Market in London. In addition to strategic alliances with airlines and other international tourism boards, the CNTB arranges cooperation with well-known travel portals such as Lonely Island and Discovery.

Yesterday, during the second day of the World Travel Market (WTM), the Croatian delegation led by the director of the Croatian Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić and the director of the CNTB office in London Darija Reić met with representatives of ABTA, the leading British association of travel agencies and tour operators, reports HrTurizam.hr.

In order for the recovery of the global travel industry to be as fast and successful as possible, ABTA representatives stressed the importance of mutual cooperation of all destinations, both in the public and private sector, and also discussed the importance of sustainable tourism, ecology, and economic awareness of passengers, which further imposed themselves on the British market during the global pandemic.

Meetings on cooperation in 2022 were also held with representatives of Euronews, the European news channel that is broadcast in more than 400 million homes in 160 countries, but the CNTB arranges cooperation also with representatives of Lonely Planet, a global travel platform visited by more than 11 million unique users a month, while their website records about 32 million monthly views.

"In addition to the promotional activities that we carry out independently, our strategic partners with whom we cooperate on foreign markets also play a very important role in further positioning Croatia as a quality and safe tourist destination. If in the next year we want to use all the potentials that our country has in the British and other emitting markets, we must focus even more activities on targeted communication and informing key publics, but also on achieving a favorable and stable epidemiological situation," said Staničić, adding that those destinations that will be profiled as safe, well-organized and sustainable will be increasingly popular and sought after.

Promotional projects that would additionally position Croatia as a desirable and recognizable tourist destination were also discussed with representatives of Discovery, a company that manages Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Science, Discovery World, Investigation Discovery, Discovery HD, Animal Planet HD, Eurosport, and others.

June 21st, 2021 -  The Croatian Tourism Board (HTZ) has launched cooperation with leading global travel platforms and specialized travel media Lonely Planet and Culture Trip to provide the latest information on Croatian holiday destinations and tourism services in eight European markets.

"Cooperation with such important global travel platforms, which are followed by nearly 20 million unique visitors a month, is important in promoting Croatian tourism and travel destinations. This will give us additional visibility in key European markets from which we expect the largest number of visitors this year," HTZ director Kristjan Staničić said in a statement on Monday.

Lonely Planet Launches “Discover Croatia” Page

ZAGREB, May 22, 2019 - Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) and Lonely Planet, one of the world's leading travel platforms, have launched a page dedicated to Croatia, "Discover Croatia", with four new videos of Croatian destinations, the HTZ said on Wednesday.

Two videos, made in cooperation with the HTZ, show the eastern region of Slavonia as "Croatia's best kept secret", with emphasis on its wines, cuisine and the cultural and historical heritage, and the central coastal town of Zadar as a destination for outdoor adventures such as hiking in Paklenica National Park or sailing in the Kornati National Park.

The two other videos were made by a Lonely Planet team in the Zagorje and Međimurje regions in the north of the country, with emphasis on their castles, and in Istria, focusing on truffle hunting.

The material will be shown in Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Italy and Austria.

HTZ director Kristjan Staničić said effective tourism promotion nowadays was unimaginable without cooperation with the world's leading media platforms such as Lonely Planet, which he said logs 13 million visits a month.

Lonely Planet creative director Matt Parish said he was proud the platform could contribute to Croatia's promotion in the world, describing it as a destination, rich in diversity that was made for discovery.

Croatia's northern Adriatic peninsula of Istria has received Lonely Planet's prestigious Best in Europe 2019 award.

Gari Cappelli Praises Residents and City of Zadar

The City of Zadar has always been a popular destination in Dalmatia, boasting the stunning sea organ, and, as Alfred Hitchcock himself once said, the most beautiful sunsets in the entire world. Now Gari Cappelli, the Minister of Tourism, has congratulated this ancient city on its success, stating that the very people of Zadar are the ones who give it its life.

As tourists flock to Zadar from all corners of the world, with numerous airline companies having taken it upon themselves to either increase their flights to this Dalmatian gem or to introduce new lines connecting major European cities to its thriving airport, the city goes from strength to strength across the spectrum, from its entrepreneur success stories to its tourism figures. It seems that Zadar's success hasn't gone unnoticed, at least not by Gari Cappelli, who expressed his warm feelings for both the city and for the ''happy people'' who live there and make it what it is.

As eZadar/Radio Zadar writes on the 23rd of November, 2018, upon welcoming the participants of the session of the Zadar City Council on the occasion of Zadar's city day, Gari Cappelli, the long standing Croatian Minister of Tourism, stated at the beginning of his address, among other things, that Zadar is a city full of of happy people who give it life.

Gari Cappelli recalled the very welcome fact that the highly respected Lonely Planet, one of the most popular and trusted travel guides in the entire world, included Zadar in its announcement of the prestigious ''Best in Travel 2019'' guide, in its recommendations on destinations which should be visited by tourists next year.
