Uljanik Shipyard Management Ready to Step Down

ZAGREB, August 25, 2018 - Members of the management and supervisory boards of the Uljanik Group said on Saturday, after meeting to discuss a general strike that started in that group last Wednesday, that they did not have the moral right, despite the pressure they were exposed to, to abandon Uljanik and its workers amidst efforts to find a solution in close cooperation with the government, and that they would step down after a solution was found.

Shipyard Workers to Protest in Zagreb on Monday

ZAGREB, August 24, 2018 - The striking council of the Rijeka-based 3.Maj shipyard, that held a meeting on Friday, said that union stewards in the Pula-based Uljanik dock and in the Rijeka shipyard decided to depart for Zagreb on Monday as part of their plans to intensify their protest actions which they started on Wednesday over unpaid wages for July.

Still No Money For Shipbuilders Salaries

ZAGREB, August 24, 2018 - Economy Minister Darko Horvat said on Thursday evening that neither Danko Končar, the owner of the Kermas Gorup that is perceived as a potential strategic partner for the Uljanik Group, nor the management of the Pula-based ailing ship construction and repair group, were offering for the time being any solution how to ensure funds for the payment of the wages in arrears.

Rijeka and Pula Shipyard Workers Begin Strike

ZAGREB, August 22, 2018 - Employees in the Rijeka-based "3. Maj" and the Pula-based “Uljanik” shipyards, that are parts of the Uljanik Group, on Wednesday began their industrial action because they didn't receive their pay for July on Tuesday and they will strike at their work stations until they get their salaries.

Two Major Shipyards to Strike on Wednesday

ZAGREB, August 21, 2018 - Workers at the Uljanik shipyard – all 4,500 of them – will go on general strike at 7 a.m. on Wednesday because they didn't receive their pay for July on Tuesday and they will strike at their work stations, Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia Union shop steward Marina Cvitić said after the last round of negotiations between the management and union failed.
