Split Tourism: December Recorded a 19% Increase in Visitors from 2015

Split is a hit! It’s no surprise that the number of tourists who decide to travel to Split grows from year to year, but of course most tourists come during the summer season. This year, Advent in Split has given an even bigger boost, drawing great numbers of tourism for the off-season. 

Here are the statements by the Tourist Board of Split, as reported by Dalmacija News on January 3, 2017. 

“The results of this year are in line with our expectations in which we announced the most successful tourist season so far. In December, the Split Tourist Board recorded 11,020 arrivals and 23,496 overnight stays, which is a 19% increase in arrivals compared to last year (2015),” said the Tourist Board of Split.

In December, Split was also the top choice of many domestic guests, followed by guests from the neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, then the United States, the Republic of Korea, Germany and Slovenia. 

When we look at 2016 as a whole, we see an increase in the number of tourists by 27% and the number of overnight stays increase by 31%.

"In 2016 total, we recorded 574,917 arrivals and 1,763,080 overnight stays, which is an increase in arrivals by 27%, and an increase in overnight stays by 31%. Most of the tourists to Split were from the following markets: UK, Germany, USA, France and Australia. These results give us motivation for the further promotion of Split and the development of tourism in our city, for the benefit of the whole community,” concludes the Tourist Board of Split.
