The Management Board of Porin has passed a decision to hold the highly anticipated music awards in Split for the third time.
After successful cooperation over the last two years, the Board of Porin has decided to bring the 24th edition of the Porin Music Awards to the Spaladium arena on March 17, 2017, reports Dalmacija News on February 6, 2017.
Recall, the first Porin in Split was held at the Spaladium arena, and last year the awards took place at Gripe - filling the hall with the most highly appreciated Croatian musicians.
The music awards will once again revive the spring tourist season in Split with a series of events within the awards to complete the social life of the host city.
“The Tourist Board of Split has always supported projects that complement the tourist offer of the city and generate growth in tourist traffic in the preseason. Split is a city of music and we are proud to award the Porin in our city again,” said Alijana Vuksic - director of the Tourist Board of Split.
Even the organizers of the most prestigious Croatian music awards are excited to have Split as the host city this year.
“I am happy that the Porin will be in Split again and that we will once again be at the Spaladium Arena. I think that the Porin is a great thing for the city and for music. Simply, Split is a musical center and it's nice that these things happen within it. It is good for Split as a tourist destination because there will be plenty of people in the city in March as many people will attend the Porin on March 17. The Porin awards give the city something in the low season, and we hereby offer to enrich the city and the overall music offering,” said director of the Split Festival and president of the Split branch of HGU, Tomislav Mrduljaš.
The big challenge is to exceed last year's show in Split...
The week ahead of last year's prestigious awards show was marked with many social events. Thus, domestic, but also foreign visitors can enjoy various concerts, panels and promotions, and many humanitarian actions at the start of the tourist season.
Last year, the Porin organization was satisfied with all of the participants, and the goal this year is to achieve the same thing.
“Last year's experience has shown that both performers and guests feel excellent in Split, so this year’s decision to once again host the Porin in Split shows what we can accomplish,” added Mrduljaš.
If you recall, last year's Porin awards hosted some of the biggest names in the Croatian music scene such as Josipa Lisac, Hladno Pivo, 2Cellos, Massimo, Neno Belan, TBF, and Petar Graso. The most prestigious award last year was won by Matija Dedic for the album "Matija playing Arsen”.
