Free tours through Diocletian’s palace under the action ‘Mukte po palači’ will be held from February 11 to February 28.
This Saturday, February 11, the first free tour will begin through the action known as 'Mukte po palači'. Organized by the Association of Tourist Guides (UTVS), from February 11 to 28, there will be free tours every day through the historic center of Split, accompanied by the licensed guides of the UTVS association. The first tour begins this Saturday at 10am, reports Dalmatinksi Portal on February 9, 2017.
“Last year's action had great results and a great response. In order to participate, you must subscribe to the action via e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. The number is limited due to quality management and several times last year - due to exceptional interest - too large of groups were formed which makes it difficult to conduct, while it reduces the quality of the presentation,” says Leo Nikolić, president of UTVS.
After registering, applicants will receive feedback via e-mail which will determine if they will be able to join the tour. Groups will meet at the bronze model in front of the south entrance to Diocletian's Palace, and from there the tour guide will call out the names of those who registered.
“Through these tours, UTVS can contribute their increased knowledge of the heritage of Split, thus preserving and increasing respect for the impressive urban, architectural and social heritage of our city. Tourism does not have to be monoculture and the citizens should also feel good in their city. What is good for citizens is good for guests.”
In addition to introducing heritage, the action is a good way for the citizens to learn more about the city - and it is specifically good for those in the Croatian tourism profession. In recent years, the action was mostly conducted in January, but this year - because of the extreme cold - the tours were moved a month later. We hope you will join and enjoy the stories of Split through these tours,” concludes Nikolić.
