By 3 March 2017

The round table "Entrepreneurial Center for New Technologies in Tourism" was held on March 2, 2017 within the framework of the 22nd International GAST Fair at the conference hall of Spaladium arena.

At the meeting which was attended by experts in the IT, tourism and entrepreneurial sectors, it was concluded that in this area - where tourism is one of the main and only growing industries - there is a need for the establishment of a specialized entrepreneurial center (PC) for the new technologies in tourism. The center would contribute to the development of new technology as an important element in raising the quality of the tourist offer, reports GastFair on March 3, 2017.

The round table was opened by Ivana Prodan, director of the business support center d.o.o ”Start Dalmacija Up”. Prodan displayed the importance of the PC as a place for young entrepreneurs from the IT sector to provide mentoring in business while having a space to do business with the high-tech equipment they need - something that is usually hard to come by for beginners. Prodan also expects that the center could receive funds from the contest for entrepreneurial infrastructure, and at the same time announced further development of the center which would be open to all business start-ups, entrepreneurs in tourism and IT, and all those who are interested in the implementation of new technology in all business segments.

During the round table, Mario Čelan - director of the development agency in Sisak County SI-MO-RA d.o.o. - presented the work of his agency and practices that will assist in the activities and operations of the PC.

Andrija Frinčić, director of Implementacija snova d.o.o. from Zagreb, said that if such a center existed at the time when he began to work, he would have saved a minimum two years of work.

Andjelko Katavić, head of the Department of Economy, EU funds and Agriculture of Split-Dalmatia County presented the programs that SDŽ offers entrepreneurs.

Ana Maria Puzić, head of the Department of Industry and IT for the County Chamber of Split, displayed the activities that HGK has carried out to improve the quality of business in the IT sector.

Anamaria Cicarelli, the owner of Interligo - a company that focuses on counseling for family accommodation in Split - pointed out the advantages of the PC which would support young entrepreneurs in the IT sector in the field of business, marketing, and the presentation and sale of their products to entrepreneurs in the tourism industry as users of their services.

Stipe Čogelja, head of the Department of Tourism and Maritime Studies in Split-Dalmatia County, explained the activities of his department and stressed the need to encourage the quality of tourism, which would include the use of new technology in the tourist industry.

Tomislav Zović, an entrepreneur, and director of Klikeri d.o.o. who has been operating for eight years and was among the first to draw up a website for the tourism sector - explained how a PC can help a small entrepreneur in IT.

The 22nd International GAST Fair will be held until March 4, 2017.
