6. Annual "Days of Bach" in Split Begins Today!

Days of Bach will begin today, March 21st, and continue through March 25th.

"Days of Bach" was first launched in 2012 by two professors in the Music Department at the Academy of Arts, pianist Vesna Podrug and violinist Wladimir Kossjanenko. “Days of Bach” is held every year in Split on the birthday of the famous composer, which is March 21st. 

“Days of Bach” will be celebrated with three concerts this year, here is the full program.

On Tuesday, March 21 at 20:00 in the hall of the Art Academy on Zagrebačka street, students from the Music Department of the Art Academy and students of the Music School "Josip Hatze" will perform.

On Wednesday, March 22 at 18:00, young pianist Kosjenka Turkulin from Zagreb will perform the "Goldberg Variations" and the Prelude and Fugue Davorin Kempf (Hommage à Bach). The concert will take place in the hall of the Art Academy (Vrančićeva street).

The final concert will be held on Saturday, March 25th at 20:30 in the foyer of the Croatian National Theatre in Split. For the final concert, the Split virtuosos will play together with students of the string section of the Art Academy under the direction of Wladimir Kossjanenko. The program includes four instrumental concerts and thevsoloists are: Split cellist Michael Caruso, violinist Fritz Gearhart from Oregon, Dragan Radosavljevic from Berlin, and Alina Gubajdullina from Zagreb. The concert program will end with a performance by young Croatian pianist Lovro Marusic.

The sixth edition of “Days of Bach” is organized by the Music Association ARTEMIS in cooperation with the Academy of Arts and the Student Council of the University o Split, the Music School “Josip Hatze”, and is supported by the City of Split, the Tourist Board of Split, and Marina Kaštela.
