By 26 March 2017

The Sun, a popular daily tabloid published in the UK and Ireland, names 7 reasons you should visit the Dalmatian coast.

While we may find it very hard to find any reasons you should not visit the Dalmatian coast, popular daily news tabloid The Sun has given readers 7 reasons you should visit the Dalmatian coast - and sure enough, Split is somehow connected to all of them. The article was released today, March 26, 2017.

The Sun writer Shannon Lawlor kicks off the piece by saying that Dalmatia is not just about Split, but that it is the perfect place to start.

After tempting readers with a teaser text saying to “trust us, the Dalmatian coast has got it all” (we don’t disagree), Lawlor jumps into the first reason for visiting Dalmatia: the cobbled streets. Something Split is surely known for, Lawlor encourages readers to wander the cobbled streets to the sounds of nuns singing at St. Dominic’s Church, grab a beer and something to eat at Lvxor in Peristil, and don’t forget to rub Gregory of Nin’s big toe!

Second reason to visit Dalmatia? The beaches of course, and Lawlor names Bačvice as the closest beach to the city center, and Split’s only sandy stretch. Lawlor also encourages readers to take a stroll to the famous Hotel Park and enjoy a poolside cocktail and 5-star service. Another suggestion? Just a 15-minute walk further you can find the better beaches in Split at Zvončac.

Reason number 3? Island hopping, and from Split, you can easily get to Brač or Šolta to do just that.

Number 4? Grapes, which means wine, and not only is Split full of wine bars, but some of the best wineries in Dalmatia are just a short ride away.

Sooner or later the relation to Game of Thrones had to be mentioned, and the “saints and legends” in Dalmatia are surely reason enough to visit. Lawlor suggests readers take a Game of Thrones tour of Split and head up to the bell tower at the Cathedral of Saint Domnius.

Reason number 6? The food, and Split is known for some of the best. Lawlor suggests trying the oxtail and chateaubriand risotto at Bokeria, or try the traditional "peka" at Konoba Varoš.

And last but not least? You should visit Dalmatia for the adrenaline kick. Just a short ride from Split in Omiš you can raft on the Cetina river, or why not stay in Split and explore Marjan hill by hiking or biking?
