Yesterday at noon, a handful of inflated condoms sailed the skies above Split, marking the opening of the event ‘Period - 28 Days of Activist-Artist Interventions in Public Spaces’, which was held at Trg Gaje Bulata in front of HNK.
This event, which is organized by the Split Association Domine, celebrates female creativity for an entire month (or more precisely, the time of a menstrual cycle). The event will be held at different locations in the city and will include workshops, panels, and performances focusing on women and women's rights, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on April 23, 2017.
“Women are free to make decisions about their life and are equal in their rights with men. They can not be reduced to a simple role of incubators used for propagation of the species, they know what they want and their decisions must be respected. Women's rights are universal and can not and must not be subordinated to the family nor burdened with religious and cultural values."

"The country has to equally serve both male and female citizens and is responsible for ensuring respect for their rights and law enforcement for all, no matter how different they might be. It is freedom and democracy, governed by a society that we want for ourselves, our children and family, those we love. That’s how you respect life,” said Mirjana Kučer on behalf of the Association Domine, while inviting citizens of Split to join the event.
The action of releasing condoms into the sky was to emphasize the importance of prevention, protection, and responsible sexual behavior.
