A look at the stunning scenery of Split in the 1920s film Down to Dalmatia.
It's always enjoyable to take a look back at the different periods of a city, especially one that is so rich in history. Because it's Sunday and we're allowed to have a bit of a lazy one, today we decided to take a look at Split in the 1920s, courtesy of the film Down to Dalmatia.
Down to Dalmatia follows a US Navy trip down the famous Dalmatian coast. While the exact date is unknown, it is safe to say that Down to Dalmatia was filmed in the 1920s, and perhaps more specifically 1927.
The film captures the scenes of a trip made by the US Navy which began in Venice, Italy before continuing down the Dalmatian coast, reaching Split (or Spalato as the film states) just after nine minutes.
The film explores the history and landscapes of the gems along our coast and gives viewers just the right glimpse into what life was like in our Dalmatian capital back then.
