Record Weekend: Split Airport and Harbor Will See More than 90,000 Passengers!

Do you feel the crowds yet?

More than 90,000 passengers will circulate through the Split Airport and ferry port this weekend, which is a record turnover for a single weekend this year, reported Slobodna Dalmacija on July 1, 2017,

"Today and tomorrow (July 1 and 2), Split Airport reported the arrival of 198 aircraft, and we expect to achieve a turnover of around 48,000 passengers, making it the most during a single weekend this year," said the manager of Split Airport, Mate Melvan.

Melvin continued by saying that during the first six months of this year, Split Airport recorded a significantly higher turnover than in the same period last year.

"In the first half of this year, we recorded a 27 percent increase in traffic compared to the first half of 2016, and we expect that the favorable trend will continue until the end of 2017," added Melvan.

The coordinator Jadrolinija in Split, Ante Mrvica, said that the Split harbor this weekend will see a much higher turnover than the first weekend of July in 2016.

“Today and tomorrow, from the Split ferry port to the central islands in both directions, around 45,000 passengers and more than 10,000 vehicles will be circulated, which is the largest market during a single weekend this year," said Mrvica.

He added that the traffic during the weekend would be a couple of thousand higher with better weather conditions, but storms partly contributed to fewer passengers sailing towards the central Dalmatian islands from Split.

According to Mrvica, the highest boat traffic on the route from Split to Brač was recorded yesterday, with the daily number of boat lines increasing from 12 to 14. In the direction of Šolta, the daily number of boat lines increased from 5 to 6, while the number of daily boat lines in the direction of Vis increased from 2 in 3.
