By 3 August 2017

Last year, Split did not reach one million overnight stays until August!

According to data from the eVisitor system, 156,439 arrivals and 517,059 overnight stays were made in July according to the Split Tourist Board. Staggering figures for this month, the city has recorded a 20% increase in arrivals and a 19% increase in overnight stays compared to the previous year, reports Dalmatinski Portal on August 2, 2017.

In July, most guests were from the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, France and the United States.

When looking at the tourist traffic over the entire year so far, one million overnight stays were achieved in July this year. Last year, the same result was achieved in August.

“Since the beginning of the year, we have achieved 27% more arrivals (393,617) and 24% more in overnight stays (1,125,024) compared to the same period last year,” said the director of the Tourist Board of Split, Alijana Vukšić.

“These indicators confirm the fact that Split is one of the leading tourist destinations in Croatia and that the combination of cultural and natural beauty, manifestations, and other content that Split offers is truly recognized by tourists from all over the world. I congratulate our tourist workers on the work so far and I am confident that we will continue to tackle the shortcomings of our joint activities and be good hosts to our tourists,” Vukšić concluded.
