Got Figs? Enjoy the End of Fig Season with Humanitarian Action "Days of Figs" Today!

By 9 September 2017

With the summer season coming to an end another season must come to an end - fig season.

Figs are, without a doubt, my favorite fruit on this planet. A fruit of the ficus tree and part of the mulberry family, figs are not only sticky, sweet, and delicious, but they are packed with fiber, are full of vitamins and minerals, and can be eaten fresh, dried, in cakes, in liquor, and however else you’d wish to have them.

We’re lucky here in Dalmatia that figs flow freely in our Green Market, on the trees of our streets, and if we’re lucky, in abundance on the trees of our neighbors. While their season is short, it’s safe to say many of us make up for it by the amounts we shovel into our mouths during the summer.

As one last hurrah for our favorite summer treat and a kiss goodbye to the fig season, the Association of Leukemia and Lymphoma have organized the humanitarian action "Days of Figs”.

Held today on Marmontova until 13:00, visitors will be able to buy and taste figs in all of their beautiful forms, from fresh to dried, in liquors, cakes, and homemade jams, and even as seeds for visitors to prepare for next summer’s bunch!

A critical part of a healthy lifestyle, why miss out on an opportunity to enjoy figs in all of their glory while supporting a cause that encourages longevity, health, and a happy life? This one is a no brainer.

Head out to Marmontova while there’s still time and stock up on all things fig for the next year - you won’t be sorry!
