Drivers in Split Welcome New Smart Parking App: 6000 Users in 3 Days!

By 25 January 2018

The first comprehensive smart parking solution in Croatia is now in effect

Drivers in Split welcomed the new smart parking system with open arms, judging by the impressive number of 6000 users who have downloaded the innovative app since it was made available three days ago, reports Lokalni.hr on January 25, 2018.

The first smart parking sensors were installed in Split in November 2017, with the remaining lot scheduled for installation before the end of March. A total of 43 parking lots with 1360 parking spaces will be equipped with data collectors connected via the central system, enabling the app users to locate available parking spots in the city in real time.

With the help of the app, drivers can also find disabled parking spaces, find their way to the preferred parking lot using the integrated navigation system, and report illegally parked vehicles anonymously. So far, around 750 sensors have been installed.

Split Parking reported that 'Smart Split Parking' currently ranks among the ten most popular apps on Google Play and the App Store, with an average score of 4.6. The system is functioning properly, and the project has only received compliments and praise so far. "The biggest award to all of us is the satisfaction of users who have been sending in their proposals and comments in order to improve the app, but have also been reporting illegally parked vehicles, showing that they advocate for order in traffic. We would like to encourage them to keep up with such a practice, and invite those who haven't used the app yet to try out its convenient features", says a statement from Split Parking.

You can also pay for parking via the app, and it's worth noting that paying with a credit card or a prepaid system will cost you up to 30% less than paying via SMS.
