Hit Weekend in Split: Over 65K Passengers at Ferry Port, 48K at Airport

By 30 June 2018

Split is experiencing its first hit weekend of the summer - with thousands of passengers traveling through the ferry port and airport over the next few days.

Despite the steep (and expected) traffic at the Split Ferry Port, the access roads are not experiencing heavier traffic than normal. Kralja Zvonimira street is operating as any other summer Saturday, and the line of traffic has not increased further than the intersection at Ulica Slobode. Since the morning hours, traffic has increased on all routes to the islands, and more than 20,000 passengers have gone through the Ferry Port since Friday, reports Dalmatinski Portal on June 30, 2018.

“We can say that this is the first hit weekend this season and everything is running as planned. This weekend, we expect more than 65,000 passengers and 13,000 vehicles at the ferry port. The lines to the islands have been strengthened since yesterday. Yesterday, we had 12 extra lines, and today, 14. We have increased the lines to Stari Grad by 7, to Vis by 3, and the Split Agency is now available to its passengers from 0 to 24 hours,” said Jelena Ivulić from Jadrolinija.

There is a steep increase in traffic at Split Airport, but there are no delays for now. This weekend expects to see over 200 aircraft and 48,000 passengers. Today, 105 aircraft and about 28,000 passengers are expected, and on Sunday, 95 aircraft and more than 20,000 passengers.
