Five Days to Go: Bačvice Summer Cinema Welcomed 6,900 Viewers So Far

By 17 September 2018

The first season of the "Bačvice" Summer Cinema under new leadership, namely the Golden Gate Music Center and “Kino Mediteran", is nearing its end.

The Bačvice Summer Cinema will close its doors on Saturday, September 22, and will feature a colorful program for the remaining days. Thus, visitors can look forward to The Predator, Foxtrot, Under the Tree, and Johnny English Strikes Again before they kiss the famous cinema goodbye until next summer, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on September 16, 2018.

“We are extremely pleased with this season of the Summer Cinema Bačvice'. Although we believed in our program concept from the beginning, we did not expect such a large response from the audience as the season started without any major planning. In less than three months, the cinema has seen 6,900 viewers, and there are still more days ahead of us so the figure will continue to grow. What is important to point out is the average viewing rate of up to 110 viewers per projection, as well as very few projections below 60-70 visitors, which was mostly during the World Cup,” reveals Alen Munitić, Artistic Director of 'Kino Mediteran'.

The anticipated, absolute hit on Bačvice was the continuation of "Mamma Mia”, which, as you know, was filmed on Vis, but Munitić is particularly proud of the fact that the program of film classics, cycles such as “Ferragosto in Kino Mediteran” and some independent films did better than some commercial titles .

“With regard to bilingual promotional material and duplicate subtitles of all non-English speaking films, a lot of foreign visitors also visited the cinema and are absolutely delighted with it. The results are generally excellent considering this is our first season without any budget for marketing and promotion,” says Munitić.

“It is proof that our way of programming and public development in the context of independent films is correct, that the viewers support it, and that the cinema should follow the same method for the next season. I am grateful to the whole team who worked at the cinema this year, our partners from the ‘Golden Gate’ (Zlatna Vrata) for their cooperation and the fantastic selection of film classics, the City of Split for their support and, of course, all the viewers who were part of our story.”
