Yesterday, the program for monitoring the quality of seawater in Croatia began.
The program, which will see implementation in seven coastal counties, will be carried out by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy, reports Dalmacija Danas on May 23, 2017.
The quality of the seawater will be tested through October 8, 2017, and during this period, the quality must be monitored on a total of 948 points for the beaches along the Croatian coast. The tests will be carried out ten times during the season, or every fifteen days.

The quality of seawater in Croatia has been continuously tested since 1989 to protect the health of bathers, preserve the high quality of the sea, sustain the management of the beaches, promote the Adriatic beaches, and improve the quality of the tourist offer.
According to the latest available data from 2015 by the European Environment Agency, based on the results of more than 21,000 sampling points in Europe, the quality of the seawater in Croatia falls behind Cyprus, Malta and Greece.
