The 4-star resort is a great addition to the tourist offer on Korčula
Great news for Korčula: today, June 9 2017, marks the official opening of the renovated tourist resort HTP Korčula d.d., now to be known as Port 9 resort!
The opening ceremony was attended by Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić, Korčula Mayor Andrija Fabris, Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism Ivo Bašić and the CEO of Korčula d.d. Ivana Hatvalić. Korčula now boasts 180 new accommodation units with a 4-star rating – a much needed addition to the luxury tourism segment. The investment was worth 75 million kuna.
Port 9 is designed so it could merge the island's tradition and the modern approach to tourism; four renovated objects got new names related to interesting local historical facts. Various Croatian experts from multiple fields were consulted during the reconstruction to make the final product as authentic and prestigious as possible. The design project is the work of Kaliterna Arhitektura, headed by Duje Kaliterna, a well-known architect from Split.
"This is a big step for the town, the island and the destination. We needed this. We're more than satisfied, as two years ago we had the pleasure of opening new hotels Liburnia and Korčula, and today we're opening the new resort Port 9. We're all happy with this investment, and I believe our guests will recognise that as well, being able to enjoy the new objects and the wonderful nature on Korčula." said mayor Fabris.
Prefect Dobroslavić congratulated the town and HTP Korčula for becoming a 4-star destination, remarking it's a welcome addition in a county already known for its prestigious tourism offer.
Head of the Tourist Board of Dubrovnik-Neretva County Vladimir Bakić announced they expect a return of guests from the UK, as well as Germany, France, Slovenia and Poland. "We're heading for another successful tourist season and we're more than well-prepared; we are already seeing a record income from tourism in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County." said Bakić.
Port 9 is one the largest investment projects by Prosperus FGS in the tourism sector. The new objects entail 340 new job listings, and their opening is a great contribution to the development of the destination as a whole.
