Renewable energy power plant is the first phase, it will be followed by thermal resort / Spa, Waterpark...
An investment project "Hybrid Geothermal Power plants AAT Geothermae" will mark the start of mining and construction works in Draškovec/Medjimurje with a ceremony on April 8, 2016, at the construction site, company reported on its official website
Investor, AAT Geothermae, announced the arrival of the Croatian Minister of Economy Tomislav Panenić and Minister of Environment and Nature Protection Slaven Dobrović to the ceremony.
"AAT Geothermae" is supported by the Ministry of Economy of Croatia, Medjimurje County and the City of Prelog which is a recipient of high honors and awards in the European Commission’s NER300 programme for innovation in energy production from renewable sources.
This project is one of the few major projects currently under way in Croatia, and it will bring new enterprise development, business opportunities as well as job creation and better quality of life in the region.
"AAT Geothermae", as a pilot project of innovative technology, also puts the Republic of Croatia, Medjimurje County and especially the city of Prelog on the world map of the advanced innovative environment in the development of technologies for the production of energy from renewable sources.
The first customers from Prelog should receive thermal energy in about two years, from the hybrid geothermal power plant being built in Draškovec, one of the suburbs. It will be the first such plant in Croatia that will heat energy from geothermal wells supplying companies in economic/industrial zones, households, and farms interested in growing vegetables in greenhouses.
“Economic zones and households will receive local, green and cheaper energy” - explains adviser for AAT Geothermae Peter Vesenjak.
“The aim is to achieve a considerably lower price than with any other energy sources. Works in Draškovec are already underway. We want to complete the power plant by the end of the year and the project is currently in the deep drilling phase. We started working on other infrastructural parts of the project such as cables connected to the main power line and we are preparing for the construction of the access road and drainage system for power plants” –Vesenjak added.
The power plant is the first phase of a much wider project called Hortus Croatiae, Garden of Croatia. The next scheduled phase is a health resort/spa center, Water Park; mineral water bottling plant ... The project is worth EUR 75 million.
We will certainly watch and follow the development of this exciting project and keep you posted on its progress.
