More investment into Croatia's wellness tourism industry.
In the first nine months of the year, Terme Tuhelj in Hrvatsko Zagorje and its Slovenian owner Terme Olimia have recorded an increase in financial results compared to last year. In the next year, they plan new investments in facilities worth just over 1.1 million euros. The bulk of the investments will go towards the renovation of the wellness hotel Sotelia in Terme Olimia, which should be completed by the end of 2016, reports Poslovni.hr on October 25, 2015.
As far as Terme Tuhelj is concerned, after this year's renovation of the camp site, which included all the infrastructure and adjustment for winter operations, for next year they plan to invest 150,000 euros in the construction of an indoor pool complex, mostly with new attractions for children and families.
"Terme Olimia and Terme Tuhelj pursue a business strategy of continuous development and improvement of services with innovations and investments in capacities, infrastructure, facilities and high-quality solutions, which brings good results", Ivana Kolar, director of Terme Tuhelj, said and added that it takes a lot of effort to develop tourism in inland areas. "Both in Tuhelj and in Olimia we are on the right track, since this year we have been visited by many more tourists. We believe that guests can recognize a good product and service in line with trends in demand", Kolar said. She noted that their efforts have been recognized by the tourist professionals as well, who have declared them as the best spa resort of the year.
Kolar explained that, in the first nine months of this year, Terme Tuhelj had 64,300 overnight stays and 27,500 arrivals, which is 5.2 percent more than in the same period last year, while the number of daily swimmers at the pools was 131,300, or 8.3 percent more. There was an increase in revenue of 7.5 percent, to 4.46 million euros.
"Croatian guests are still the most numerous, coming mostly from Zagreb and Istria, but about half of the guests are coming from abroad, mostly from Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the summer, he also had guests from Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Canada, France, Israel, Lithuania, New Zealand, China, Korea and other European and international destinations", Kolar explained.
