Croatia's Exports Grow By 10.5 Percent

More growth for Croatia's exports.

From the beginning of the year to the end of September, Croatian exports have increased by 10.5 percent compared to the same period last year, while at the same time the rate of import growth was 5.5 percent, according to data announced on Monday by the State Bureau of Statistics, reports Novi List on November 9, 2015.

The first preliminary results of foreign trade indicate that Croatia in the first nine months of this year exported goods worth 64.12 billion kuna, which is 10.5 percent or 6.09 billion kuna more than in the same period last year. This is a slightly lower rate of growth compared to the first eight months, when exports grew by 10.9 percent. In the same period, Croatia imported goods worth 104.5 billion kuna, which is 5.5 percent or 5.4 billion kuna more than in the first nine months of last year.

The deficit in the foreign trade of Croatia with other countries at the end of September stood at 40.4 billion kuna and was 1.6 percent or 663.3 million kuna lower than last year. The export-import ratio for the first nine months of this year was 61.3 percent, up 2.8 percentage points compared to last year's 58.5 percent.

Preliminary data from the State Bureau of Statistics show that in the first nine months, exports to other EU countries grew by 15 percent compared to the same period last year and reached 42.3 billion kuna. Exports to non-members of the EU also grew by 2.7 percent, to 21.75 billion kuna.

Imports of goods from other EU countries in the period from January to the end of September stood at 80.8 billion kuna and increased by 8.8 percent, while at the same time imports from non-member countries decreased by 4.5 percent to 23.7 billion kuna.
