Croatian National Tourist Board Director Ivičić Requests Dismissal

By 20 February 2017

Ratomir Ivičić has asked to be dismissed, but will continue in his post until new director is appointed.

Director of the Main Office of the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) Ratomir Ivičić announced on Monday that he had requested to be dismissed from his position. The public competition for the selection of the new director will be announced within 30 days, reports Novi List on February 20, 2017.

Ivičić has asked for the dismissal himself, noting that he would continue to perform his duties until the new director is appointed. The Tourism Council of the Croatian National Tourist Board unanimously accepted his request at its meeting on Monday.

Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said that it is was proper that Ivičić was willing to remain the director of the HTZ Main Office until his successor is appointed.

Ivičić was elected the director of the Main Office after two rounds of public competition in 2014. He took office in early July 2014, when the Minister of Tourism was Darko Lorencin.

It is not known who will be the new director. The current Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli has not stated his opinion, but the situation will be more clear in a month or two when the public competition procedure is completed and candidates to be his successor are known.

The new director of the Main Office will manage HTZ’s budget which this year amounts to 260 million kuna, about the same as last year. An important role in the management of HTZ also belongs to the tourism minister, who is automatically also the HTZ president.
