By 28 June 2017

The Villa Magdalena Hotel in Krapinske Toplice received two conference halls and 15 new accommodation units, each with a thermal water jacuzzi in the living room.

One of the first small family hotels in Croatian Zagorje, declared for three years in a row as the best small continental hotel in Croatia, made a unique step forward in the offer of continental tourism. The investment worth two million euro opens Villa Magdalena also to the sector of business tourism.

“We are aware that investments are the key to survival on an increasingly demanding market and an answer to the needs of guests, hence the idea to expand hotel capacity. Zagorje has an enormous tourism potential and I am certain that our example will encourage other investors to pay more attention and seek opportunities for investments in our area,” said hotel owner Ivan Petrović, and added the investment was funded with their own means.

Villa Magdalena is unique in having each accommodation unit equipped with a thermal water jacuzzi in the living room. Two conference halls are also news, which positions this hotel as a desirable choice for various business arrangements, confirmed by Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli.

“Investments are key to additional strengthening of tourism competitiveness of Croatia, with investments in hotels having a special significance, as the segment is characterised by year-round operation. According to the Strategy of Tourism Development of Croatia by 2020, the plan is to increase the share of hotels in total accommodation structure, but also bolster additional tourism offer in the entire year and the entire country, especially in the continent which has large tourism potential. Hence, hotels who offer more than their standard services to guests, such as the health tourism segment, are a strong element for development of quality of the total tourism offer of Croatia, but also the destination they do business in. Also, the renovation of Villa Magdalena offers an opportunity to position it as a place of business meetings and conferences, which will contribute to the annual offer of Zagorje and continental Croatia in general,” said the Minister.

Krapinske Toplice District Chief Ernest Svažić expressed his satisfaction that the Petrović family chose this location to develop such a significant entrepreneurial project. “Investments such as these support the development of additional tourism services in the geographically well located and naturally bountiful land, as well as the development of the entire community,” said Svažić.
