Good news for Dubrovnik Airport!
As DuList reports on the 8th of September, 2017, the Director of Dubrovnik Airport, Roko Tolić, signed a contract on the construction works and infrastructure of Dubrovnik Airport on Thursday with representatives of Strabag AG, Elektrocentar Petek and the Split road company worth 1.125 billion kuna, of which 858 million are from EU funds.
This is the second phase of the project on the development of Dubrovnik Airport, and the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković, who spoke at a conference in Dubrovnik yesterday, also attended the ceremony.
''This is a great moment because we've signed the largest contract that is co-financed by the EU (so far). It is my pleasure [to know] that we will sign the largest contract soon, and that will be [the contract for] Pelješac Bridge, after the tender is completed, of course. These investments will have a major impact on GDP and this should give us the strength and the belief that future generations will remain in Croatia'' said Minister Butković.
''There are works scheduled for the end of the summer flight schedule already. The take-off track was built in 1962 and suffered serious damage in the Homeland War. It was not seriously remedied and this is the right moment to take on that important task. The contract for these grants from European funds was signed back in April,'' Tolić stated, announcing that this season will be a record for Dubrovnik Airport.
Otherwise, Dubrovnik Airport has recorded an impressive increase of 18% when compared to the same period last year, and with the completion of the Air Development Project co-financed by the European Union, the capacity of the Airport will be greater.
The first phase of the project, the construction of a passenger terminal building worth 476 million kuna, was officially completed in May this year, and the total project, which is worth 220 million euros, must be completed by April 2019.
