New Car Sales in Croatia Increase by 19%

Volkswagen, Opel and Škoda take the lead

In a period from the beginning of 2017 to the end of September, new car sales in Croatia recorded an increase of almost 19 percent, reports Novi list on October 5, 2017.

According to data collected by Promocija plus and published on Thursday, October 5, the new car sales in Croatia recorded an increase of 18.9 percent compared with last year, with 41.505 new passenger cars sold in the first nine months of 2017. In September alone, 2.796 new passenger cars were sold in Croatia, making for an increase of 8 percent compared with the same month last year.

In 2017, the majority of new registered cars was manufactured by Volkswagen – around 6.000, making for a 14.5 percent of the total sales. The leading German brand is followed by Opel with 4.246 new registered cars (10.2%) and Škoda with 4.136 cars (9.9.%). Fourth place goes to Renault with 3.793 new passenger cars sold (9.1%), followed by Suzuki with 2.495 new cars (6%).

In the first nine months of this year, Škoda Octavia was the best-selling model with 2.119 cars sold, followed by Volkswagen Tiguan and Suzuki Vitara.

Out of the total number of registered new passenger cars, 55% were diesel cars (22.756) while 44% were petrol cars (18.332); remaining are 15 electric vehicles and 365 hybrids.
