By 19 October 2017

Each day, its shops are visited by 86,000 customers.

For the first time in Croatia, DM Drogerie-Markt has reached 2.1 billion kuna in revenues and recorded a growth of 5.4 percent compared to the previous business year, these promising results were announced today at the presentation of the results for the 2016/2017 financial year, reports Jutarnji List on October 19, 2017.

The company has invested more than 74 million kuna in the modernisation of 37 stores, a new logistics centre, and the opening of two specialised over-the-counter medicines departments.

“The past financial year was marked by an increase in the number of customers. Out stores were visited by more than 86,400 customers a day, which was three percent more than the previous year, while the average purchase amounted to 76.38 kuna, which was marked growth of two percent. We've also achieved sales growth in the over-the-counter medicines segment of 27.93 percent,” said Mirko Mrakužić, the director of DM.

An essential element in the positioning of DM in the market are their brands, which in this financial year had a 29.41 percent share of the total turnover. As part of its brands, DM has developed the Trend IT UP cosmetics, while the dmBio product range was expanded with more than 100 new organic products.

“The dmBio's brand saw sales growth of 66.8 percent, which indicates an increase in demand for organic products. The sales of organic food in the financial year grew by 4.41 percent, while the sale of organic food produced by Croatian producers grew by 7.44 percent,” said Gordana Picek, head of Purchasing, Marketing and PR at DM.

Market research has confirmed that DM is considered to be a company which cares about its staff – as many as 75 percent of respondents think DM is a company which cares deeply about its employees. In addition to average net salaries in stores of over 9,000 kuna, DM organised 137 training courses in the past financial year and has developed the DM Academy project.

“The long-term goal of the DM Academy is to provide education for staff in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Macedonia. After the training, employees will be able to follow the needs of our customers and will be able, thanks to new knowledge acquired, to provide customers with even better service and expert advice,” said Ana Fostač-Krilčić, the human resource manager.

DM currently operates 157 stores and employs 1,399 workers in 60 towns in Croatia. Its goal in the 2017/2018 financial year is to invest 90 million kuna in the modernisation of its shops and the further development of its product range.
