An office of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce opens this week in Shanghai!
Relations between China and the Republic of Croatia are growing ever closer as Croatian PM Andrej Plenković and his Chinese counterpart discuss deepening ties between the two countries at a summit in Budapest, and Shanghai is set to see an office of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HKG) open this week.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 28th of October, 2017, the upcoming HKG office in Shanghai is yet another positive signal for ''the improvement of the overall trade exchange", which has increased over the past several years.
China and a group of 16 eastern and central European countries (CEEC) were in talks at a summit held in the Hungarian capital in recent days, and a closer relationship between the two nations is important for positioning in relations with world powers that have showed interest in investment in this part of Europe. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković added that key spheres of interest for Croatia are infrastructure, ports and of course, tourism.
Plenković said in a statement to journalists after the meeting that Croatia recorded a huge growth in Chinese tourists' arrivals and expected over 200,000 arrivals from China in 2018. Next year, most likely in spring, a 16 + 1 meeting of tourism ministers will be held in Dubrovnik, "to confirm the interest of Chinese investors for Croatia's tourism''. He noted that the HKG office due to open in Shanghai this week is yet another positive step.
It seems the ball is already well and truly rolling and for now alone, it's known that China has already agreed to invest 30 million euros into Krapinske Toplice, while at the same time allegedly investing in the Camel company that manufactures e-car batteries at the well known and internationall respected Rimac Automobili.
When asked about China's interest in building the much-anticipated Pelješac Bridge, the Croatian chiefs of government said that the country "has shown great interest in this part of Europe, and it's no surprise that they've also run [in the bidding] for the construction of Pelješac Bridge."
