Not everyone has a problem with opening new jobs.
The Central Bureau of Statistics released today an extensive study titled “Towns in Statistical Data,” which shows trends and statistical indicators for Croatian towns in the period from 2011 to 2016, reports Poslovni.hr on November 28, 2017.
The data reveals that new jobs are being created after all and that, after many difficult years, the economy is slowly starting to improve.
Last year, legal entities in towns and municipalities had 1,082,985 registered employees. Although it was an increase of just 0.46 percent or 4.969 employees compared to 2011 when the economic situation started to seriously go downhill, compared to 2015 it was an increase by 6.29 percent or 64.131 employees.
Unlike in the previous period, when the employment grew in just 54 towns, in 2016 there were 104 towns with at least minor employment growth. The employment growth of up to ten percent was recorded in 74 towns, 22 towns reached the growth rate of between 10 and 20 percent, while five towns had more than 20 percent more employed persons than before.
Interestingly, these were mostly middle and small-sized towns. They are Hrvatska Kostajnica (21.15 percent), Vrgorac (22.14 percent), Kastav (34.9 percent) and Beli Manastir (48.34 percent).
The absolute winner, with a growth of as much as 64.62 percent, was the town of Pleternica, which on 31 March 2016 had 698 employees in various legal entities, which was 274 more than a year earlier.
Pleternica is a small town in Požega-Slavonia County, at the location where the Orljava River is passing between the Požega Hill and Dilj towards the Sava River, at the entrance to the so-called Požega Golden Valley. It is surrounded by several hills (Psunj, Papuk, Krndija, Dilj and Požega Hill).
According to the town’s official website, it offers to possible investors its Entrepreneurship Center Pleternica, which is a company 100 percent owned by the town authorities and whose primary purpose is to help present and future entrepreneurs in the area. The Business Incubator Pleternica was founded in order to promote innovation, new technologies and entrepreneurship in rural areas. It is equipped with state of the art computer equipment and a 30kW solar power plant which ensures sustainability and lower energy expenses. The Entrepreneurial Zone of Pleternica is located on the outskirts of the towns and cover 1.6 square kilometres. It is equipped with water supply, sewers, electrical grid, telecommunications and natural gas grid, and is intended for industry (food, metal and wood processing industry), trade (shopping centres) and other service industry uses.
