By 22 December 2017

Seven bids have been received for one of the most important infrastructure projects in Croatia.

As part of the public procurement procedure for the execution of construction works on the modernisation and electrification of the Zaprešić-Zabok railway line, which will be worth 510 million kuna plus VAT, seven bids have been received, reports tportal.hr on December 22, 2017.

Joint bids have been sent by four groups of bidders: Kolektor Koling, SŽ-ŽGP Ljubljana and AžD Praha, in the amount of approximately 564.7 million kuna; Colas Rail Croatia, Colas Rail SAS GH Holding and GP Krk, amounting to 562.4 million kuna; Strabag, Strabag AG and Split Road Company, in the amount of approximately 588.8 million kunas; and Dalekovod, DIV Group and Kamgrad in the amount of approximately 664.7 million kuna.

Three individual bids have also been received: Swietelsky in the amount of 529 million kuna; Comsa, approximately 651.7 million kuna; and China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group, about 760.6 million kuna. All these amounts are without the value-added tax.

According to the Croatian Railways infrastructure company, which is the project leader, they will now evaluate all the bids and decide on the winner of the tender.

The tender covers a section of almost 24 kilometres in length on the regional railway line between Zaprešić near Zagreb and Čakovec in northern Croatia. Upon completion of the modernisation process, the journey time of services will be shortened by between 30 and 50 percent. This will also create the preconditions for incorporating these services into the urban-suburban transportation system of the city of Zagreb, the company’s statement said.

For this project, the European Union has decided to appropriate funds from the Competitiveness and Cohesion operational programme, which is part of the Cohesion Fund, in the amount of 85 percent of the total value of the project, which amounts to 614.4 million kuna.
